Just curious but exactly who is that trio supposed to scare? I mean has any one of them done anything in the NFL?

they're all fast and quick

I think he's injured, and Dallas wants to stash him on IR

Maybe.

But players on IR still get paid, so it isn't free lay away.

Hopefully, the hammy is just tender, necessitating an injury release from Indy and not a big problem.

Can we add an injured player to the roster without him passing a team physical?

It's up to the team if they want to pass them. They can overlook injuries. Jimmy got taken when he traded for Alonzo Highsmith who had a bad knee.

Hos was especially high on this guy

he couldn't go more than a day without saying his name around last year's draft

I was gonna mention that I thought he was Hos' pet cat but I wasn't positve and I didn't want Hos bringing the hammer down on me.:D

This was written by a draft analyst last year:

Curtis Johnson is not as instinctive as Joey Porter in locating the ball and will need to totally revamp his pass drop and coverage skills, but he has a violent hand punch to overpower big blockers and a good burst off the edge to be a superb edge rusher. His strong hands have seen him have good success dislodging ballcarriers from the ball. With his ability to wreak havoc in the backfield, he will bring instant value in pass-rushing situations. He is also a very capable coverage defender on special teams. The big thing here will be getting Johnson a patient coach. Doing so could unearth a Pro Bowler before long. He was tried at both inside and outside linebacker in postseason all-star action and held up very well on the edge. The mental aspect of playing inside will be too much for him to grasp at this early stage of his possible shift to a stand-up defender from one with his hand on the ground. Look for Johnson to become the first noteworthy CAU product since former NFL fullback Chuck Evans (1993-2000), who was drafted in the 11th round in 1992.

Mark Columbo?

It's just a hamstring injury. It's not IR worthy.

If he can just put his hand down in a 4 man nickel line and play special teams he'll earn his roster keep.

Curtis Johnson gained 15 lbs of muscle over the offseason and is now at 252. This kid plays physical and nasty_will kill himself AND the opposing player to make the play.

Love this pickup.

Oh heck no. I am impressed you guys remembered at all.

I really love this acquisition. The kid reminds me of Charles Haley in some ways. Not saying he is as good, but he plays angry and I love that. I think we will see it on Special teams and he is a good guy to give Ware an occasional play off or mop up duty.

He is relentless. Can't wait to see what he brings.

I never thought he was right for a 4-3 scheme. I was shocked he went to the Colts. This is a much better fit.

I love that he plays angry. But I was not shocked at all that the Colts signed him. Dungy loves speed & physicality, and he does not care if a guy is too light. A lot of Dungy's DTs would be strongside DEs in traditional 4-3s. Dungy has had an undersized guy (Mathis_under 250) playing strongside DE for years now.

But I agree with you, w/Dungy gone (his replacement Coyer(?) is looking for larger players plus tweaking the scheme) the Cowboys are a much better fit for CJohnson. But he's going to have to change his number, #94 is taken. :D

Hamstring injuries can linger for several weeks. Can we hold a roster spot for a player who might not be able to show us anything until the season starts or after?

Hard to justify it unless someone else (Jason Williams, Mike Hamlin, Stephen Hodge) goes on IR.

Just throw him in with the 4-6 and give him one objective; kill someone.
