DC.COM Blog: Cowboys Sign Duke Preston * Justin Rogers cut | post #156 *

At least the coaching staff sees what everybody on the board sees. Proctor cant play.

Point is, Preston starting 11 last year for the Bills doesn't necessarily mean he's an upgrade. I'd be thrilled if we brought him in for competition or depth, don't get me wrong. And I'm glad he wouldn't cost us anything but money.

True that.

However, Phillips said that the team had a list of players at different positions that, if cut by other teams, they would bring in for a look.

Therefore, I imagine that Preston was on that list and that our scouts have been looking at him pretty hard.

IMHO, we need 8 quality linemen on the team. Guys who can play for extended periods in the NFL if called upon. We've got maybe six right now. Good news is a lot of our guys can play multiple positions. If Preston's good enough to qualify as a seventh, that's a big step forward, especially if he covers all interior line positions.

So all I see is "Cowboys to add Preston..." and I'm thinking the Boys are adding Preston Pearson to the Ring of Honor.:bastid:

Thats the first thing I thought as well! Man he was good!

It's unlikely Proctor will be cut. He can play several positions, too. The backup guard can't.

Thats possible, but Holland is a much better OG than Procter and probably better than Preston also. So they just might trade out Preston for Procter since they can do the same job.

If Preston passes a physical, Proctor is as good as gone..Preston is an upgrade and can play all three positions on the line, Holland is battling Gibbons for a roster spot.

Yes!!! Goodbye Tucker...um I mean Proctor. Don't let your drum stick hit you on the way out. Finally we have a backup that is reliable.

Edit: Free Reign is as good as dead.

Is it? The Bills and Green Bay didn't want him. We shall see.
Mickey, if you're going to use your old line; use it correctly. "If he's so good then why was he available?"

Green Bay's line is pretty deep with nice youth. There really wasn't a need there to keep him.

Buffalo is another matter entirely.

They traded Peters and replaced him with nothing.

They ley Dockery walk and replaced him with nothing.

Preston is a 73, Procter's a 64.

We're good. :D

Whew...and we know that is ALLLLL that matters!

 Now if we can get Roscoe Parrish some kind of way.

Damn.

I thought this thread meant that Preston Pearson would be added to the RoH....

Preston won't be the second coming of Stepnoski, but he might be a good fit for Houck and will provide much better depth behind Gurode.

I love this pickup, but wouldn't it be hilarious if they cut someone OTHER than Proctor?
