Greg Ellis said he plans to practice in some capacity Wednesday here at Valley Ranch, though not full speed.

The veteran linebacker hasn't practiced since the first day of training camp July 25 because of bursitis in his heel, and is still trying to return from the torn Achilles injury he suffered last November.

"It's not there yet - I know that already," Ellis said. "But I want to just kind of see how much I can do."

nice...maybe we will get him back atleast in situational plays for the Bears game, I really doubt this week though. At the Bears game it will have been 10 months since the injury and the usual repair time is 11 months so that would not be unthinkable.

Yeah - I'm not too worried about the Dolphins offense, or even the Bears. I would like him with the Bears, because Grossman is awful, but extra awful with pressure. I really don't mind waiting until the NE game, though.

Ellis won't be ready until game 4 or 5 probably... I didn't count on him at all in 2007 so anything he can contribute would be a bonus in my eyes!

Good luck Greg, having you back would be a good thing.

Come ON GREG !! I am ready for him to try it and get back
on the field. Hopefully soon.

I have already written him off. Even if he is in uniform, he won't be able to make plays until next year....if ever again.

I will gladly eat my words but that is a serious injury to come back from and even when you come back you usually need a year to get the explosion back.

Exactly...

The reason that I have hope Greg will be back is that his pass rush was never effective because of speed or strength, rather his technique was excellent. I don't know how much it will be affected by his ankle, but his hands are always used to their max.

Ellis used his strength well in conjunction with his outstanding technique...

I agree. He is also good at knocking down passes. I kept hoping the d-line would get their hands up and bat a pass or two down from Eli, but it was not happening.
