Getting Hamlin back leaves Dallas not as thin in the secondary. I like how Ball has been playing but we are an injury or 2 away from being in trouble without Hamlin.

Hamlin is a downgrade to ball tru fax. Hamlin has to be one of the mmost over hyped FS in the NFL he's a water down version of RW that can't tackle it's rather sad the amount of hype/ defending this guy gets however considering the way people still suport RW11 and Brady James it's seems about right that cowboys fans now a days celebrate and enjoy the mediocrity that is building around here.

Over hyped? who the hell is hyping him? If Dallas can find an upgrade in the off-season great but until then Dallas needs to have as many healthy players going down the stretch as we can, right now if we take an injury in the secondary we are in a rough spot without Hamlin. Hamlin while not a top FS has played decent not giving up big plays. Much of the hoop la with Hamlin has more to do with his blown tackle from last years Balt. game than any thing he has done this year.

Yeah your right we don't need any extra players to come in should we get an injury in the secondary because we are so loaded at the position.

I think we might need Hamlin for run support against Jacobs. I'm worried if Ball has to make a solo tackle on him.

have you seen Ken attempt to tackle?

he's a duck and lunger

you can't remember the last time Hamlin made a play yet you'd want to go after Taylor "makes no plays" Mays?

I vote no on Taylor Mays too.

Yes he is fast.. But it is straightline speed. Hes got stiff hips.

The game has almost switched to where you need a 3rd corner out there at all times.

I am with you on this. Ball gave up a TD to Darius Heyward Bey.

And what would Ken Hamlin have done?

There is no chance Hamlin could've stayed with DHB running towards the sideline, Alan Ball is a fast cornerback and he couldn't do it.

Ball is somewhat suspect as a tackler at safety, but I expect he'll get better with additional game experience. However, he's been around the ball in the passing game and had a couple of near interceptions.

I think Hamlin has one near interception all season, he just isn't around the ball very often. I know he mainly plays deep to help prevent big plays, but where is the nose for the ball we saw back in '07?

Playing lots of deep coverage doesn't mean you forfeit the ability to make plays on the ball. The defense continues a long struggle with not forcing turnovers and Hamlin is one of the reasons why.

When's the last time a team was at the goalline and threw at Ken Hamlin? If he sucked as bad as everyone says, you'd think teams would actually throw at him.

When's the last time Ken Hamlin filled in at cornerback?

Alan Ball nearly had a diving interception playing corner, are you seriously going to suggest Hamlin can cover better than our fourth corner?

Hamlin doesn't get asked to play man coverage because he can't do it.

Ball can.

But if you can play man, sometimes you are going to get beat.

Kinda like Bey did to Ball on that long TD pass.

Ran right by that kid like he was not even on the field. Ken would have at least interfered w/ him.

Are you suggesting teams actually gameplan not throwing in the direction of Ken Hamlin?

theo is just reading the stat line and assuming that means Ken Hamlin is always in perfect, shutdown coverage on receivers

To be honest I've been dreading this news....:(

Ball has been flying all over the place making plays and if you thought Hamlin was tenative before his injury wait until he comes back....

This is when I "really" wish we had coach will a sack, the old fat jolly cupcake coach will just insert Hamlin back in and we won't see Ball back at FS no matter how bad the defense falls off with Hamlin in.

Not speaking for him, but I think what most don't like about Hamlin is what I actually appreciate.

Primary gripe by many - He's not the dynamic player that the Cowboys paid for. Big contract = super human feats on the field.

I could care less abou the contract. He's a guy we rarely hear his name during a broadcastnot because he's being beat like a drum...or is constantly out of position.

Yes, he's going to make the occasional mistake, but for the most part he's a solid player that I rarely worry about when he's on the field.

Defensive backs that can't cover get thrown at a lot. They can hide for a while. But when teams discover they're not any good they go after them. I'm pretty much convinced that if a defensive back plays for over 2000 snaps in three seasons and gives up only 33 passes and 4 TDs in those 2000+ snaps, he's doing SOMETHING right.

But that's, of course, all I'm going on, so if I'm wrong about Hamlin, so be it. But I do know that it is IMPOSSIBLE to judge a free safety based solely on a television broadcast and anyone that says they're judging him on a television broadcast, without considering those statistics, isn't honest.
