DC.COM Blog: Practice Squad Announced

If Proctor sticks on the opening day roster, it's because the coaches actually think enough of him that they want to keep him even at his current price tag.

I will be shocked if the Proc lasts the month of September.

He's insurance at the mo' while Duke Preston becomes comfortable.

We may be the deepest at the tight end position in the entire league. Witten, Bennett, Phillips and even Chandler is very, very solid.

I agree.

Dallas has had two good tight ends before (Ditka & Truax, DuPree & Fugett, DuPree & Cosbie, and Novacek & Alfredo Roberts, etc.), but I don't recall seeing this much quality, starting with a possible Hall of Famer at No. 1, a freakishly talented second-year guy at No. 2, and a very solid, future contributer at No. 3. And Chandler looks pretty good, too.

Did Hannah end up getting picked up by anyone?

I really think that Michael Irvin had a little to do with Holley being on the PS. Mike's pride was at stake and him and Jerry probably had a talk, thus not making 4th and Long a complete "BUST".

Yup, I believe the same team Pacman is on right now :laugh2:

I can't wait for the Jessie Holley nonsense to be over and done. Like the other seven, hate that one.

We could have kept Stanback.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but this is from Profootballtalk.com:

Fourth and Long" winner makes practice squad
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 6, 2009 4:34 PM ET
Maybe Jerry Jones just wants to extend the promotional brand of Fourth and Long, the Michael Irvin reality show in which Jones awarded a 80-man roster spot to the winner.

Or maybe Jesse Holley has really earned his spot on the Cowboys practice squad. (This heads-up play resulting in a 82-yard touchdown couldn't hurt.)

Whatever the reason, Holley's accomplishment indicates his presence on the training camp roster wasn't all just a stunt. Who knows, maybe Holley will even be able to do his wing-flapping touchdown dance in a game that counts someday.

The rest of your 2009 Dallas practice squad: guard Travis Bright, quarterback Rudy Carpenter, tight end Scott Chandler, fullback Julius Crosslin, defensive end Marcus Dixon, wide receiver Manny Johnson, and wide receiver Mike Mickens.

Looks like ole Mikey is changing positions...
or far more likely the writer knows jack squat.

good job holley

thank goodness we kept mickens

sorry about smith though.

I am glad we were able to sign Mike Mickens.

Btw did DeAngelo Smith show something beyond muffing Punts ?

It's Cleveland - take a look at their defensive backfield and you'll see why :laugh2:

unfortunate though, I'm sure he would've liked to stay with Mickens but probably good to get Mickens out of his comfort zone to see what he's really made of.

To be honest the only one that intrigues me is Manuel Johnson, a big maybe on Dixon.

Sadly, I think there might be something to him being on the practice squad to give credibility to the reality show.

If that is the case I will personally take out Michael Irvin's knee if I get close enough.

;)

who was the 53rd player we signed to the roster?

Marvin White, a safety from the Bengals... started 10 games for them last year, before tearing his ACL... played his college ball at TCU... 6-1, 205 pounds. 4.52 40 (before racking up his knee, of course)... a big hitter who can play either safety position, but no great shakes in man coverage... he needs to play in a zone to be semi-effective...

Presumably, the Boys like him as a special teams contributor...
