Weren't we as deep as we had ever been at corner LAST year? How'd that work out? I'll wait to see what these young guys bring to camp. :)

Not even close.

Had two rook corners working their way into the line up, and basically nothing behind them.

I dont think you can leave the Safties out of the evaluation, because thats where the huge upgrade has swung IMO.

Killer was a starting SS last season, and Sensabaugh is a huge upgrade right there, and now with the infusion of CB/S in this draft, Ball and Brown, even Watkins will be fighting for their lives this TC.

The sub packages will see the biggest impact early, where the speed and ball hawking skills of the rooks will be felt immediatlely, with the coverage abiltiy in zone and speed inside will be something this team has been good at but not great.

This secondary has every chance to be great this season!

If thats not a huge upgrade from last season, its easily a notch or two.

Every team has ignorant fans.
says an ignorant fan. I don't know how you can blame anyone when tnew has missed time the past 2 seasons with leg injuries i believe and he's 31 years old and he isn't getting any younger

I have high hopes for the secondary, but I'm going to reserve judgment because there is just so much we don't know about with this group.

There is a lot of talent there, but talent doesn't always translate to success, especially when you're relying on a lot of young players.

How much talent is there in a couple of 5 - 7 rnd picks really? Even when Scandrick was drafted everyone was saying he was the steal of the draft. No one is saying that about these two guys except on this board.

I would say that most of this board has proven to evaluate talent at a higher level than most scouting depts.

Sounds crazy but if youve followed some of these posters over the years, you see that they are right more times than not.

and then there are the others that are, well just lame.. lol

I've been here nearly since the board was created and I've seen the talent evaluations over the years and everyones pet picks. Our team has not had nearly the talent that everyone raves about on here every preseason. Jacques Reeves was supposed to be blazing fast and just needed nfl level coaching.... well? We've hit on Fjones (1st rnd), Scandrick (4th rnd), Choice (3rd rnd), and Ratliff (7th). Everyone in the world knew that Felix was going to be good and as I said earlier, everyone said Scandrick was the steal of the draft. So what major finds have our illustrious board members picked that have so much talent that the professionals haven't seen?

Anthony? not hating on the guy, but having him start didnt make us deep...and Pacman was overrated, and newman was banged up, so we only had scandrick n jenkins

I could see Mickens get a pseudo red shirt this year. A year to get a little bigger and healthier. Then everyone forgets about him, teams start throwing his way and he makes them pay.

Really? I'd say the WR position in the NFCE is about as light as it gets. Moss with no QB? Desean Jackson? Some rookies? Even including Dallas it's not a strong position group.

Now, NFCE defenses....ouch.

Just because you're a fifth-seventh-round pick doesn't mean you don't have talent. The reasons they were drafted so low might end up being the same reasons they don't succeed as pros, but it doesn't mean they aren't talented.

For all we know, first-round pick Mike Jenkins still might only turn out to be a so-so pro, but again it doesn't mean he doesn't have talent.

Like I said, I like the talent of these players, and have high hopes based on that, but it doesn't mean anything if they cannot effectively use that talent on this level.

Actually in this latest edition of Sporting News the Mike Mickins pick was the only 7th rounder that received an A. And Smith was a B+.

Mickens was a 2nd to 3rd round talent that fell because of injuries. If hes healthy then he can ball. I have no doubt that if healthy he could be the 4th corner easily.

TNew is a fanatic about conditioning. His injury last year came about as he was stepped on by another player. But some morons here blame him for that.
As has been pointed out (but morons never learn) he did not miss a single game in 5 years-and he had a couple of injuries during that time. But now suddenly he is injury prone- but only to morons and new fans.

Y'all are insane if you think Newman is injury prone or trash..the guy gets injured one year out of 7 seasons and he's injury prone. Please spare me the ignorance.

One injury in seven years? Are you on crack? You actually have selective amnesia and you are calling normal people insane and ignorant. Wow, you are a strange person to say the least.

How, how quickly Newman has fallen from the graces of some Cowboy fans.
What you quoted doesn't mean Newman has fallen out of grace or w/e...I don't necessarily disagree with you, but to question whether or not he will stay healthy is legitimate because he's been hurt so much since he's been here. Even his second year when he played I think every game (maybe missed 2 or so) he was hurt for more than half the season. The guy's a top 3 or 5 corner in the league, but that doesn't mean there aren't concerns about him.
