Football is a team game, no doubt it takes a team effort to win a super bowl. However, both those years, Eli definitely stepped his game up and played as well as anyone on that team in the postseason. The two super bowl MVP's are just more proof of that. He played lights out.

I hope the Cowboys can come together like that this year, as well.

I agree QB is important only stating that the job as QB becomes easier when the offense can produce overall.

You're stating the obvious. You're not saying anything that every football fan in America doesn't already know.

As for the Ravens they sacked the QB 3 times and int him as well. They also had a big stand late in the game. Yes SF made big plays in the game but defense still had an impact in the outcome. Ravens also never got away from keeping a balance on offense rushing it 32 times with 33 passes.

The Ravens defense didn't play very well giving up what appeared to be an insurmountable lead. Sure the Ravens D made some plays especially on SF's last ditch drive but it was clearly Flacco's performance throughout the playoffs and SB that put the Ravens in position to win that SB. Had the Joe Flacco that showed up in past postseasons showed up again last postseason the Ravens would have been sitting home with their 11th ranked rushing game and 17th ranked defense that wasn't near as good as their previous defenses.

SF Gore was over 100 yards and a TD so their running game was part of keeping them in the game.

Of course their running game contributed but it was Kaepernick who sparked SF last season which got them to the SB and helped them stay in it. He put up over 300 passing yards and over 60 rushing yards. Both teams gave up over 30 points because it's a passing league. It's hard to keep teams down no lead is safe in a pass happy league. Go back to the 70's and 80's we never saw shootouts in the SB because it was a different game back then dominated by running and solid defense. SB's have become a duel between QB's we're in an era where 4000 yard passers are common and now we're seeing 5000 yard passers.

Again not taking away from QB but telling me Flacco won the MVP? who cares that award is a joke to begin with vast majority of the time the QB is handed the MVP be it pro or college but it does not take away from the play of others who made major contribution to the win.

The SB MVP award is only a joke when it's awarded to a QB not named Tony Romo. lol If Romo ever leads the Cowboys to a SB and has the performance we saw Eli have in 2011 and Flacco last season the award won't be a joke then. :laugh2:

I agree, I thought Flacco deserved the MVP award. One thing that people may not remember is how many times Joe converted 1st downs on 3rd downs that were obvious passing downs and that 49er defense had some real good players.

The ravens defense played good but not great and did struggle some in the second half. The ravens running game was just ok to me. The jacoby return helped for sure - but Flacco was consistent and in control throughout the game.

The best way to evalaute a QB in my oppinion is look at how he does on 3rd down when the other team knows you are going to pass. The 49ers defense could not get off the field because Flacco kept converting 3rd downs.
