It's unfortunate that they could only agree on a 1-year deal. He might miss a 1/4 to 1/3 of the season. Hopefully we can work out something long term.

that's dumb as hell! sign him to several years. One year is a idiot move and puts us right back in the same boat next offseason. Were taking all the risk signing this guy. Another team can step in and take him after we take all the bad PR. This is nonsense

You can franchise him next year if needed..

I like the one year deal tbh. He gets paid, and the cowboys have a low chance at getting burned.

If everything works out, a longer deal can be discussed. If it goes so-so/bad, we are free of him.

Funny you should mention the word idiot

Do you think Dallas didn't want to sign him long term?
Do you think much (or any) of this money is guaranteed?
Do you think Dallas in no way covered their butts...in any way whatsoever?
Would we rather we not have Hardy at all?

What makes you think Hardy and his agent were interested in signing a long term deal St the trough of his value?

Well.... I don't like the 1 year deal but at least we got him. Now this means we need to get Dez signed long term ASAP to lower his cap number.

It’s a one-year contract, which carries the minimum base salary for a sixth-year player of $745,000. He can earn up to a total of $13.1 million (which was his base salary as Carolina’s franchise player in 2014) through a series of per-game roster bonuses and a large workout bonus.

The Cowboys chose to keep the base salary as low as possible in the event that another incident or accusation against Hardy puts him back on the Commissioner’s-Exempt list for all or part of the 2015 season. The thinking is that the Cowboys would only owe him game checks and not per-game roster bonuses if he’s suspended with pay.

we need details big time because 11 million sounds like alot of coin for guy who is going to be suspended atleast 4 games. I just want to know how much is guaranteed for this year.

I think it puts more pressure on the front office to secure a long term deal..

Anyway a one year deal is better than the alternative
