News: DC: Cowboys Agree To Terms With Pro Bowl DE Greg Hardy

I guess on the bright side, Dallas gets the pass rusher it needs, hopefully for around 12 games and a playoff next season....and if all goes well, maybe the Cowboys pony up and keep Hardy long term.

We have a huge amount of cap space available in 2017. If Dallas wants to resign him, they will. They can make the contract similar to Tyron Smith's contract to load money into specific years and spread a big signing bonus out over 5 years.

That was my idea. He's banking on himself and we'll be able to pay him a good chunk. Anyone know who's up for us next off season ?

I think when he and Rosenhaus saw no one step up to the plate early in free agency, they likely knew they might have to go the one year rental route.

if he shows signs of tearing it up during the season we have to extend him.

A 27 year old pass rusher with off-field issues in the rear-view would be wise to test FA, unless Dallas blows his doors off with an offer.

Well, looks like DE is back on the table for the draft.

If they get one--and we know rookies don't contribute a ton at that position anyway--it'll really be nice having a vet to at minimum bridge the gap.

The team could be really good this year. Odds certainly went up compared to yesterday.

Well not that crazy since we put the clause in there for no tag because I feel we could be renting
the Player for 80% of one season !!! Hmmmmmmm....... not as excited !!!

Exactly. This is a low-risk, high-reward opportunity. Hardy will give his everything game in and game out, Cowboys can re-sign him in late February, and it's all good. I am happy.

We have no idea what the negotiations were. It could be that he was looking for a long-term deal with Suh-like money (19 million per). Would you guys be happy if we were strapped with something like that?

I am just glad he's a Cowboy. Get him into the program, get him back into football, and let's see how this plays out. Stated differently: negotiations are not over.

It's better than lacking a pass rush while trying to make a SB run in 2015.

We should be really good as long as we keep running the football.

It would be hard to put out a defense that is worse then last years.

Another note.....Dallas just locked up an elite pass rusher for most of 2015 and took very limited risk due to the lack of guaranteed money.
