What if we all are looking at this the wrong way.

Maybe Dak does not want a new deal. Not as in another prove it, trust in myself year. Maybe he just wants out.

If that were the case, then hit the bricks and don't look back!

What makes 'no sense' is paying Dak that market setting contract when a large portion of the failures of the team.....IS ON HIS WEAKNESSES. IF he and France want top money, he'll have to concede (on length or NTC), otherwise he'll face 2024 with a lesser roster and more onus on him.......which IS HIS WEAKNESS. He may be helping his pocket, but it to the detriment of the team.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I recalled something here in the zone where Jerry said they have already given dak an offer? Did anyone else see that?

Because there is a salary cap in place and only so much piece of the pie for all players. If you want a better talented team around you, you will take a paycut to help make that happen, especially if you're by far the highest paid player on the team. It's not that hard to understand, unless you don't care about building a better talented team?

You are living in a fantasy world where the assumption is that dak saves them money and then the jones go out into free agency and spend said savings. This isn’t reality. The cowboys don’t want to spend money in free agency, because in free agency you typically have to over pay.

Stephen in particular sets a price for a player and if the player accepts it, they are signed, if they don’t then Dallas moves on. It’s a philosophy from the top of the organization to not be players in free agency and over pay.

Great - then no one should complain when we don't spend big in other areas. Dak got his bag and that is priority. ... why not take 40-45 and work on confirming ones legacy and make a deep push for a title in the next 2-3 years? Just my opinion.
I’d love for him to do that. But I also understand why someone wouldn’t. Why would I take a pay cut just for you to spend it on guys like Nolan Carroll and Cedric Thornton?

The same should apply to in-house players. If not, you get what we've got (handful of players take up 85% of the salary cap...while the rest are scrubs). Are you happy with this? If not, what are you complaining about?

Am I happy never signing impact players in free agency? No, lol. Sometimes you have to overpay that’s just how free agency works. Now you can’t do it every time but yes sometimes you need to overpay to get something very good.

I hear you, but this front office always gets it wrong.

That doesn't imply support?

When yall want my posts to say something that it doesn’t y’all “assume” and “imply” what I actually said lol. I don’t know if it’s a tactic or simple lack of reading comprehension but ill assume it’s tactic.

Cowboys need to force Dak to take a discount on a new contract extension or tell him he will be playing his last year in Dallas.

you’re literally proving in your own self admission that the front office never gets “anything right” the very reason why he shouldn’t and won’t take a pay a cut.

But yes, let’s move on….from this convo

What's funny is everyone asking Dak to take a hometown discount forgets how this team does business.

They didn't sign anybody when they had him on his 4th round rookie contract so why would it be any different now?

Well that is true and the other side of the coin that you are probably right about ... what would the Circus leader do with the money. So I do agree there with you.
