Hey DC or theebs can you guys post the KTBB talk with Nate Newton today on smoaky sports talk. I think Nate hit the nail on the head why we have been losing in december and late november. I would like the other guys to listen to the podcast before I post remarks to it, but I think it hits the nail exactly on the head why we have been flat in december last 6 years or so.

Very important guys, i want you to listen to Nate what he says about the team, offensive line, and what he and smoaky saw in the locker room after the playoff game. To me, it should make you mad and Jerry Jones mad too, and maybe we can get some media people to write up about this and get this issue fixed, joe

ok. How did he get in the locker room after the game? I dont remember any local coverage of the cowboys in the locker room after the game. I dont even remember cbs 11 having shots from in the locker room.

Basically no players talked except romo, owens witten and spears...I think mcbriar too.

Good stuff. Nate is great with the analysis, and he gives it to you raw, without sugar.

I listened and he did say he was in there. I just dont remember any players hanging around and talking. They couldnt get 3 players to do the post game show with brad and babe. So I have to question why nate is saying these guys shouldnt talk to the media, I dont think they did.

All right, I agree that the players can't take losing easily.

But earlier in the interview, Nate says that if Emmitt hadn't come back in 1993, they'd have finished "one-and-whatever".

So it's not all gritting your teeth and all that other stuff. You have to have the talent to win. And I think too many people assume that we're far more talented than everyone else when we really aren't.

I dunno, I usually like Nate, but it rubbed me a little wrong for him to call out the current team like he did. Romo hasn't even played two full seasons yet -- how was Nate's team in Aikman's second year? Did they have everything 100% figured out yet?

First smoaky asks nate a question out of these 3 subjects which one couldn?t the cowboys not overcome, 1st, team goes 1-3 first year, 2nd tony romo goes down 4-6 games and 3rd T O goes down 4-6 games, nate says the cowboys could overcome 1-3 because of the talent, but not losing Romo and T O is a close 2nd behind Romo not being able to overcome. Nate even said further that if the cowboys didn?t get emmitt smith back in 93 after he sat out first 2 games which the cowboys did lose, that the team would go 1 and whatever due to fact, those were the superior players we had, aikman, Irvin, Emmitt, Jay etc, and none had serious injuries during their super bowl runs. If you guys remember the running back we had, fumbled during the two games emmitt smith sat out in contract dispute and we lost those games.

Nate also said don?t confuse a great team in the early 90?s with a team now this year now trying to be great. Smoaky asked Nate can the cowboys be good not having a great season like 13-3 last year. Nate says yes, look at the Colts that won the super bowl or the giants last year, you have to get on a roll right time, so did the steelers on a roll right time, things will happen for you. That again points to leaders on this team and wanting to win so badly you wont let it happen the losing, etc. Are those leaders here this year and are they hungry or just content winning and not being losers.

This is main thing I want you guys to read and reply too; below;

Ok a guy named Shannon asks nate how this team on the offensive line this year compares to the 92-93 offensive. Can this group the offensive linemen in 2008 can they carry this team like you guys did in the 90?s?

Nate says what these guys have to do sir, make sure they are in shape at last half of season, this team wasn?t mentally and physically at end of year, they went into season with arrogant attitude not a work attitude. You have to realize that the last 4 games of the season Is it more important in first 8 games, which has to be determined. But im seeing nate is saying right now, seems like teams that get on a run late in season, then they can win, but they must show that passion, heart, desire, and the work attitude to put in the extra film study, the extra work to stay in shape, the working in pads in December, which wasn?t done in December and the bye week, leading up to the loss to the giants.

Smoaky asks was this team emotionally to handle this at end of season with what wade Phillips has said about 13-3 season, I am typing as fast as I can guys, so im paraphrasing some, so bear with me. IN post season after Detroit game this team wasn?t sharp, and when smoaky said the cowboys let it leak out, the cowboys wanted to let romo get the record then pull him out, the other guys see that, the offensive line doesn?t want to play, the rb don?t want to play, the wrs don?t want to play, whether we be proficient, and have passioin you lose that. Its like other words when you don?t play to win you lose that passion, desire,

Smoaky asks can the cowboys learn that lesson, nate says yes. If it touches the right guys hard, the starting TE ,, T O has to say im not letting this happen again, then the other guys fall in line, bradie has to do that, gurode has to do that, im not letting this happen again, be flat in other words and not work, be in top shape at end of season

Nate says guys like gurode has to tell other players Fellas lets go do extra work, so we can be on a run to playoffs,

Nate said I question if the guys are really gut quenching, in other words, nate said did you see that that night, and smoaky said, no I didn?t see that, on the players faces, hurt of loss, gut wrenching on their face,

Nate said when he lost a game his wife wouldn?t talk to him, or when I see you im going to grab you around the neck and show you how im hurting and that loss hurt. So, I heard maybe im wrong, but Nate said and smoaky said they didn?t see that on the player?s faces in the locker room.

So now what do you guys think?

Let's just hope we don't have 3 consecutive years of "1991"s

I don't think I can take another offseason where we proclaim last year as our 1991. Our record, our home field advantage, our points scored, our points defended alll pointed towards last year being our 1992. It's time to get a sense of urgency and make a move. This core group isn't going to be able to stick together forever, and TO isn't going to put up 1,300 yards into his 40's.

I've said this before but this current team does not have the passion, drive, toughness, leadership, and heart of the early 90's Cowboy teams. Those winning teams played every down all the way until they held the SB Trophy...this team acts like it is a 9-5 job.

The 90's Cowboys would kick the hell out of this current team, not even close.

The 90's Cowboy teams would kick the hell out of any team now, then and past.

I'll put my judgement off until after this year. This team has been together for 2 years. Actually 1 1/2 with Romo.

Aikman started in 89. We did not start winning untill late 91 really. Romo started halfway through 06. The real talent acquisition did not start in a big way untill 05. So actually we are ahead of the pace compared to the last time. The difference is of course that we have not had success in the playoffs. At the same time we have had bad luck with injuries to key people at the worst possible time. The Hotel in 05, Ellis in 06, then TO, Tnew and the other nagging injuries we had late in 07. The 92-93 team had GREAT luck as regards injuries. Aikman had his concussion but we had Kosar to take up the slack. Unfortunately we have really no one to put in when one of our stars go down. OUr depth is NOTHING like it was in 92-93.

ok here is my two cents, in 2003 we went to playoffs with bill parcells first year, and we layed an egg,

in 2005 again we went to playoffs, again we layed an egg in december and playoffs

in 2006 we went to playoffs, lost to seattle, again offense looked sluggish some

in 2007 we went to playoffs, defense played fairly well this time, but again we layed an egg in playoffs, even romo had to say and you could read his lips saying to the offensive line, come on guys, lets go;

but offensive line slowly moved to line of scrimmage, defense played and kept us in the ball game at the end,but there was no more running in 2nd half,

nate newton pointed to this, that the offensive linemen were arrogant, maybe too prideful, were pro bowl guys, we beat you guys giants once, now all we have to do is show up and win,

those guys didnt do the extra work that nate pointed too, thats what im saying where are the leaders, the Heart on this team, the passion

i dont buy that romo is young, he has been with the cowboys 5 years now, 5 at least,

its time for guys like Romo (like Parcells told Witten after the game, parcells said witten work hard, you did good, getting there, but work harder, and tell romo to stay out of the mags) that these guys like romo, witten, bradie, gurode, newman, have to say, this is my team, I WILL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, I HAVE TO GET MY GROUP MOTIVATED, HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE, TO SEE THAT THIS DOESNT HAPPEN AGAIN, KICK SOME REAR END IF I HAVE TOO, LIKE DARREN WOODSON DID ONE TIME, IN 2003 WHEN HE CAUGHT ROY WILLIAMS SNEAKING AFTER PRACTICE TO LEAVE, WOODSON SAT HIM DOWN, GOT ON TO HIS REAR END, AND MADE HIM WATCH AND STUDY FILM.

that to me is what is needed, the team has to WANT TO WIN, WANT TO BE THE BEST, NOT JUST WORDS, BUT ACTION IN DECEMBER,

also to a degree, because of all the talk about camp cupcake, that an old saying, a team takes on the personality of the head coach, like woodson, irvin, chad hennings said about Jimmy Johnson, we knew that we were going to win, was just a matter of time, but jimmy put in us we knew were going to win, and we had a swagger,

DALLAS HAS TO GET THAT, FROM THE PLAYERS AND THE HEAD COACH,

Evidence?

No doubt about it. But is that all because that team was so dedicated and this one doesn't care?

Maybe what this team really lacks compared to that one is three or four Hall of Famers.

This is basically what I've been saying all year long. November, December and January these guys have been on cruise control, coasting and resting on their laurels when they should be working harder and with more determination than ever; true champions do that and that's why they win instead of losing like so many of these lazy, self-indulgent slobs. They need to buckle down and work harder than ever in the leadup to the post-season, and not think that all they have to do is show up and the other team will roll over for them. That's when you get your *** kicked.

I don't think so much that these guys don't care about winning or that they don't work hard. The issue is that these guys are too docile. How many times have we seen this team just get bullied in the past 3 years or so? This has been a recurring theme against teams in our division. When it matters we can't beat the Eagles, Giants or even the Commanders. This team just doesn't have a killer instinct or enough dirty work players.

I don't know. If Tony doesn't underthrow TO on that deep route, or if Crayton hauls in a couple of key passes, or if the defense stops Eli before halftime, no one would be *****ing about the o-line. This was a team-wide failing.
