To be fair, I did love the Kraken. He's no team captain, but damn if we could use him. His DL loved him, too. But he doesn't galvanize a team the way Lee, Dez, Dak, etc do.

Sorry to disagree but I think there's a distinct difference in character between Randle/Hardy and Dez/O'Scan. The players will more than likely know who to go with. The best leaders usually get their due recognition. Anyway, the Cowboys have plenty of deserving guys to pick from.

Is he still late to meetings? In 2015 he was late to 20 plus meetings according to local reports. I didn't hear those reports last year so maybe things have changed.

The Dallas media, being who and what they are, would likely have jumped on it if Dez kept showing up to meetings late. To be sure, that's what they do best, year in and year out. One little slip-up and they're onto it like white on rice!

Moreover, the players will always know about it beforehand when they vote. It seems pretty likely to me that they wouldn't elect anyone captain if they didn't abide by the rules like everyone else. I've got a feeling they know exactly who to respect with their votes and who not to.

Captains don't do that, if it's been a few years then I'm fine with it, but I just don't remember.
Besides, why don't we have 2 captains and call it a day.

To be fair, the coaches take Dez out of games more than Dez does. That's the kind of things a genius like Garrett does.

Don't have an issue with making Dez a captain, per se. But it's a problem if you pass up your franchise QB -- the guy who is supposed to lead the offence -- in favor of a WR who, while intensely competitive, displays the characteristics of a prima donna from time to time (as all WRs seem to do).
