Some of the thoughts that run through an oversized, bald head:

  • During the first 90 minutes or so of Tuesday’s afternoon practice, I had jotted down three different notes about Tyrone Crawford: 1) Never seen him so vocal, clearly the defensive line leader, maybe a captain this year; 2) Keeps yelling, like jumping up and down yelling, “bludgeoning” after any defensive teammate makes a play; and 3) looks more explosive in his first step.
Read

  • Then as the crowd was “oohing and aahing” about a nifty Ezekiel Elliott run, as the play was being blown dead, Crawford fell to the grass in that sort of fashion where it’s not going to be a paper cut. Orlando Scandrick’s reaction a few seconds later only reinforced what we already were thinking. This wasn’t good. As he was carted off, Crawford was emotional and really in as much pain as I’ve seen any athlete in person.

  • However, it appears worst-case scenario has been ruled out. It wasn’t his Achilles tendon – remember, he tore his left one at camp in 2013 and missed the entire season – and it’s not a break/fracture. There’s even a chance he could be back for the regular-season opener depending on any ligament damage.

interesting that part where he sees Red Ball as more intense so far this year. Might be he is feeling some pressure? When was the last time the Boys had two 10 win seasons back to back? answer 95-96.

Jaylon being Lee' shadow is as good as it gets. The kid seems to do everything right.

Nothing here about Garrett?

  • Speaking of Garrett, he’s definitely more intense than I’ve seen him at past camps. Intense might be the wrong word, as he’s always pretty intense, even in relaxed settings. Let’s go with he has more of an edge. His voice has an extra octave or two. There is no walking allowed between drills, even during morning walk-through.
  • The biggest misconception about Garrett over the years, and I was guilty of this when he was the offensive coordinator before he was the head coach, is that he’s a players’ coach. He’s not. He’s more in the mold of Jimmy Johnson with less psychological mind games. Those who he has learned the most from – Nick Saban, Mike Krzyzewski, Johnson, his own father, Jim, back in the day – none of them have ever been described as players’ coaches.

The observation that "Dak Prescott is throwing the ball with more velocity" isn't a surprise to those of us who read about his off-season passing and core training that has given his ball more zip. I guess some of these beat writers are not as well read as we are. :p

I think the pressure is on to have another winning season and get past the divisional round Jerry wants a Superbowl but he's already stated that he wants to win so there is more pressure on him this year.

On Garret? Eventually he has to get the team over the hump. But the organization is 100% behind him. They know the issue hasn't been with the coaching.

I think its time for Garrett to show hes a "winning" coach. lets see some of that for more than 1 season.

And we are the best drafting team over the past six years according to an article recently... And certainly, the argument has been made by many here that we are amongst drafting royalty lately... So it can't be talent, then.

Gosh darn, it must just be rotten luck, then.

what has it been? just the whole team? i wont say its 100 percent coaching, but coaching has got to take some of the blame. where do you set it?

Yeah coaching is to blame especially for the Green Bay playoff game.
People want to blame the defense in general but then say Marinelli is great so what can I say.
Rodgers caught them
substituting twice , the Butler penalty and the spike time out at the end, were on the coaches not the players.

Well if they finish 9 and 7 Jerry isn't going to fire Garrett but after a 13 and 3 season he is expecting to be 11 5
12 and 4 or better in 2017 so at the very least he will be displeased.
They know Garrett has made mistakes in coaching but they have admitted that and want to let him keep going and learn on the job which he has done but he still has a ways to go.

I've always been a Garrett supporter, but it's time for this team to make a run.

A stat I like to use on this forum is the Cowboys' record since 2014 in games started by either Tony Romo or Dak Prescott- it's 28-7. At some point there has to be postseason success to go along with that, and I begrudgingly have to place that blame with Garrett.

Yes he is 1~2 in playoffs.
If you throw in the win or go home games he is 1~5 !
