Deal or No Deal: Determining which of their own 7 defensive free agents the Cowboys should re-sign

Yeah but this is win now. I can’t worry about next season or the year after. I want to win now. Also it’s worth noting that they’ve hit on some late round guys that make up for those picks. Bell, Turpin, Aubrey cost us nothing. It balances.
But is it really win now? More like filling a gap for a year or two with an aging vet.

It will be interesting if they really can get Reddick from the Eagles.
Too expensive. 14.25 million base rate and then if you trade for him early in free agency than you're also on the hook for his roster bonus. You could possibly upgrade DT and 2 linebacker spots for around that price total + keep your picks.

With Jerry Jones saying the team is ALL IN this year, one would expect Dallas to keep a majority of their personnel from last years 2023 season.

we will play a little game of Deal or No Deal and guess which players could return to the Cowboys' defense in 2024.

CB - STEPHON GILMORE

Contract prediction: One year, $9 million
Deal or no deal? No deal.
Why he’s likely to walk: Money.

EDGE - DORANCE ARMSTRONG

Contract prediction: Two years, $14 million
Deal or no deal? No deal.
Why he’s likely to walk: Money

EDGE - DANTE FOWLER

Contract prediction: One year, $3.5 million
Deal or no deal? No deal.
Why he’s likely to walk: Money and opportunity.

SS - JAYRON KEARSE

Contract prediction: Two years, $6 million
Deal or no deal? No deal.
Why he’s likely to walk: He’s just not the same player and the Cowboys already have a slew of these strong safety types on the roster including another position change from Markquese Bell on the horizon.

CB - JOURDAN LEWIS

The undersized veteran corner has had somewhat of a rollercoaster career as he has been good at times, and a liability at others. Out of need, the Cowboys tried him outside early in his career and that did not go well. Since, then he’s found a home as a reliable slot corner who plays with a lot of competitiveness and toughness.
Contract prediction: Two years, $5.6 million

Deal or no deal? DEAL.

Why the Cowboys should keep him: He should provide the Cowboys with some solid corner depth at an affordable price. He’s a tough and savvy player who could flourish in Zimmer’s defense.

DT - JOHNATHAN HANKINS

Hankins has been a reliable nose tackle in the NFL over his 12-year career. Whether it was with the Giants or the Raiders, he shows up in the middle and makes plays.
Contract prediction: One year, $1.5 million

Deal or no deal? DEAL.

Why the Cowboys should keep him: Mike Zimmer wants big bodies for his defensive line. Well, he’s already got one. Hankins may not be the answer they’re looking for, but for that price, he’d be a valuable depth piece.

DT - NEVILLE GALLIMORE

Contract prediction: One year, $1.2 million
Deal or no deal? No deal.
Why he’s likely to walk: Gallimore’s deal won’t cost much, but he’ll likely choose a team that will give him more opportunities and better job security than what he’d get with Dallas.
I have shortened the information on the defensive players. Doesn't sound like Dallas is ALL IN if there only going to keep 2 out of 7 defensive players. Read the whole article at:

gilmore and armstrong for depth and potential starters.

bye bye the rest.

maybe maybe maybe hankins at vet minimum

Who would be replacing Armstrong and Fowler at DE for depth?

So basically let's run it back with the same team and see what happens? I know our DB's led the team in tackles, but that is not how you fix the run game.
you want to get rid of the entire team because of this running it back narrative?

I want to go all in or rebuild. Let's continue to strengthen a position that we are already strong in and neglect stopping the run.

I think they will only keep the corners and look for some big heavy guys in the draft.

that doesnt make any sense, go all in means what? Why would you want to rebuild? That is crazy. You want to help the other teams?

Hankins would never crack the lineups of the other top contenders.....We've been desperate for some time now so he stays
Good lads, do we really need another 17 games with Hankins?
Me last memories of Hankins is he being pushed around by the Packers. And there goes Aaron Jones for big yardage...!

Hankins was awful last year. I keep hearing from the talking heads the Cowboys should brink him back.
Awful? 14th on the team in tackles, tied for 4th on sacks, 2 passes defended, 2 tackles for loss.

For the price he's well worth keeping....

So BTB predicting Armstrong is going to sign the same contract with 16 sacks over two seasons that he signed two years ago coming off a 5 sack season?

That site seriously needs to disband. They bring nothing to the table anymore
The Lewis deal is even worse. He’s a starting level slot CB and he’s going to get $5.6M over 2 years? 0% chance. Won’t we surprised if he gets 3/$18M or something along those lines. 2/$5.6M is an embarrassing guess.

No. We need a new CB. It is a passing league. When we arguably have the best 2 combo at CB.

this team is headed for a ice berg just like the titanic because they draft and no free agency worth a plug nickel. and this year they have a first place schedule, maybe that's there thinking get rid of dak and finish about 7 wins and get in top ten to get a qb just saying or maybe lose more then that who knows what goes on in dumb and dumber's mind along with worrying about jerry's other daughtert

Need to figure out when Manning will be entering the draft.

Armstrong gets a good raise somewhere. Legitimate starting quality in his prime years. Probably double digit sacks with a starter snap count.
