Does anyone know why Hall was cut by the Raiders today, besides the huge bonus he was due next week? Hall has 3 ints. this year. He has always played tough, aggressive CB any time I've seen him play. Once he clears waivers, which everyone expects him to do, he will be available to any team. Once you get cut, your value goes WAY down to the rest of the NFL. I think he would be a valuable addition to a young secondary that obviously needs some toughness. Mike Jenkins still seems to be unclear of what he did so wrong Sunday. That speaks volumes about many of today's young pro athletes. He needs a veteran who will kick his behind if he ever tries something like that again.

Hall is NOT that veteran that will do that

It is reported it was a money decision. Maybe the Raiders are breaking Davis's bank. Just because Jerry has endless pockets doesn't mean Al Davis et al do.

Hall is a good CB. No better than the low end of good.

I can't believe this chump has as many picks as our whole defense does.

The guy had a 7 year contract with the Raiders. They cut him and they didn't even have to. I watched Raider games, the guy is not only a liability, but he also is a player who commits stupid unsportsmanlike penalties. He used to have ability, but he is washed up now. He is too slow, he doesn't have much to offer.

And if we are going to have a trouble player on the team, might as well keep out hope for pacman. Hall wont be on the field for us before pacman comes back.

I'd pass on Hall if it were my decision. Oh, wait...
...everyone passes on Deangelo Hall.

I loved that bomb from Romo to Owens that scorched Hall in Atlanta circa 2006.

Here is why

In his eight games in Oakland, Hall was beaten 40 times for 552 yards on 66 passes thrown his way, according to data compiled by STATS LLC. He gave up more yards than any defender this season and was tied for third worst in catches allowed.

well considering how opposing QBs throw at him like 20 times a game....he has plenty of chances to intercept a few. plus, he doesnt play 15 yds off the receiver like our CBs do.

What hurt Deangelo Hall is that he plays alongside the best cornerback in football. The guy has only been thrown at 10 times ALL SEASON lol. Amazing. So I think Hall's play may be a little blown out of proportion. But at the same time it wouldn't happen any different here. He'd get the same treatment here playing alongside Newman. No thanks. He's a overrated cornerback who thinks he's better than he really is.

And he has 3 INT's this year because like Biggems menitioned, he gets thrown at the majority of the game. A lot more than our cornerbacks.

Im sure Danny boy is chompin at the bit, just waiting for Hall to clear waivers so he can try to scoop him up. Especially since Jerry picked up RW11...my money(which isnt much) is on that or the Lions pickin him up.

Obviously, I haven't seen Hall play for a while. Man, he used to have speed to spare & the stones to challenge receivers. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Any other CB out there who is solid, but for some reason is on the outs with their team. With Henry going south in a hurry & TNew beginning to have injury problems every year, we have got to get a quality CB in here who can help out.
It's either that, or we let the youngsters learn on the job & get 'em next year. The way I look at it, we beat the Skins and we're tied with them in the division. All we need is a good run & to beat the Giants when they come to town, and we're right back in it. That's going to be hard to do with the front seven underacheiving, giving little help to the young secondary.

Before I say anything else, my opinion on Hall is that he's better than given credit for here, but not as good as hyped up by the national media. He struggled in Oakland's man scheme, which suggests he might do a little better in our system since he wasn't *this* bad in Atlanta. He's obviously young. He's an opportunistic corner who takes chances, and feasts on poor throws, but will get toasted. But it's not like he's toasted all the time. I think in the past, his good plays generally outweighed the bad.

With that said, I think this is exactly the wrong type of personality we need to be bringing into the locker room -- especially midseason. By all accounts, he's a prima donna who is as concerned with looking the part as he is playing it. Which is the last thing this ego-filled team would need.

The season's at a crossroads, and the only way we get out is by bonding together as a team and marching forward by playing disciplined, studious football. I think signing this guy would be a step in the exact opposite direction, instead once again choosing glitz and glamour over the old, hard-nosed approach.
