Witten is one of my favorite players on the team for many reasons. He's tough, he's got great hands, he runs great routes, and he's a very good blocker. I also happen to think he's the best TE in the league. However, I agree 100% with the OP. I've noticed, especially this year, that Witten hasn't been simply catching the ball and turning it up field. He has been dancing around too much and as a result he seems to go down on first contact. He's far too good and too big to be doing this. He needs to simply turn up field and run over a defender or two.
Exactly. Thank you, and to the others who posted without imagining things I never posted.
I fully understand people disagreeing. It is the internet and when you can say something without consequences that is what people seem to do. But I dont get people making up things that I never posted.
I never said he was "slow"
I never said he "dropped passes"
I never said he wasn't an "all pro"
I never said he "doesn't get open"
And where did I ever imply that Witten should not be a cowboy or should be traded??
In fact I think I might have said something like "There is no question you are the best tight end in the league. You block, catch, and run better routes than any tightend in the league."
I think that is complimenting his skill set...but I am not sure. I am sure however one of you who act like someone killed your dog any time someone says something bad about the cowboys will tell me how it is insulting him.
I did say was he was trying to juke too much in my opinion. He is a big guy, and yes he is agile for his size, but he does not seem to be fooling anyone with his sluggish attempts at trickery. Specificly from the Philly game.
Yes it is true he is a pro bowler, and I (LIKE ALL OF YOU) am just a simple cowboys fan. However that does not mean that he would not be better served running north and lowering his shoulder.
I guess maybe it was the fictional open letter to Witten that confused all of you. That was a joke. Thesis: I think Jason Witten, although the best TE in the league, should run North and not East-West after the catch.
Although maybe I am wrong, maybe we should run some more reverses to Witten to capitilize on his shifty footwork.
