I think Hurd "should" make this team. While he may not have the same ST abilities as the others, he looks as though he has more upside as a WR though. I would hate to see him go and then come back to haunt us. I don't see any way he'd make it to our PS, or if he did, I doubt that he would remain on our PS before someone else picked him up. If...Parcells lets him go, then I think it will be a big mistake considering the potential he's shown. Plus, the fact that he was undrafted and won't cost us much, but yet has shown us that he "can" contribute, so hopefully, Parcells will keep him and we'll get to see him contribute for us...and not a possible rival.

While I'm going to stop trying to predict Parcells, I think Hurd has already made the team with one exception mentioned by others. If TO goes down or we lose Crayton or esp Glenn then we are going to get an experienced WR.

We are going to get blitzed by all esp Philly and pressured up front esp by the Giants and we have to have WRs who can make a hot read and get it right. Hurd may be smart and be learning all three positions but he's not experienced enough to get enough reads correct. And obviously he is not doing as well as liked on STs.

If we don't bring in a vet then I think Hurd has to stay.

Copper should be on the bubble due to the 3 year rule altho he isn't a classic non progresser. He's making some progress but is it enough relative to others.

Green IMO needs to be able to do more than some players who have locked up roster spots and can return kicks as well or well enough.

Miles is a PS or a guy who is invited back next year.

At least the decisions on who to cut this year at multiple positions are painful ones. Painful to lose a player. Not painful as years recent when it was painfully evident no matter who we kept it wasn't an upgrade and no one wanted our castoffs. And trades for talent. Yeah.

While I'm certainly not trying to induct Hurd into the HOF by any stretch, however...considering our needs at WR and what Hurd has shown while just being a FA, some posters on here might "storm the walls" at Valley Ranch if he's cut.

As others on here have said, and I completely agree, Hurd "will" be picked up by someone, and quickly. I just hate the thought of watching him develop on some other team and then come back to haunt us. Even though the other young WRs on the team may have more experience on ST, I don't think it will take that long before Hurd's skills at WR go well past theirs.

Hurd makes it IMO as well. IF we have troubles with the starters (injuries), I think he has shown the most ability to step in and play. Copper and Green are nothing but special teamers at this point, I don't see either of them being capable of stepping in if needed. Rector has shown some ability, but I think Hurd keeps him off the roster, that and we need at least 1 WR playing special teams.

the way I see it, he either has to be out copper for the 5th wr slot, or we keep him and copper and carrry 6 wr's for the year. rector and austin are not making the team.
The idea of a sixth reciever is not out of the question. Green is certainly not a lock to make the team at this point either. Especially with our newest acquisition- who happens to have some of his same intangibles. Thinking QB experience here.

You don't have to be a Manning to run a legitimate WR option play after all. And his size and run blocking abilities are appealing as well.

Damarius Bilbo: WR, 6' -3", 220 lbs

Rector and Austin are the long shots.

he is not going to let hurd go. he will keep him and rector. with glenn, TO and crayton all having had injuries in the past couple of years we need WRs.

he is keeping the pressure on the players and letting them know he needs more. that's his style. he is even keeping pressure on bledsoe with Romo. he is creating competition.

I think we will keep 6 WRs. probably 10 OL and only 2 QBs with Baker on PS

I think its going to be tough for Hurd to stick. Those 4th and 5th WRs *have* to play special teams, and if Hurd is completely clueless on them that's going to weigh heavily against him.

The plus side is that he has managed to learn multiple WR positions in camp - something that kept Crayton of the field his rookie year when Glenn went down. If he sticks, it will be because of this.

I won't really be surprised either way, but don't discount Bill's obsession with special teams.

I don't see how in the world you can let a rookie WR who has performed very well against 1st team corners and knows all 3 WR positions. Not to mention the fact that he should have had 2 TD's last week if Bledsoe hits him.

He made a nice block downfield on one of TG's receptions last week and was also open deep another time when Bledsoe decided to throw over the middle to Glenn!

I'm hoping that Parcells comments about Hurd was just a way of Parcells trying to get more out of Hurd in Parcells eyes. I would hate to see Hurd go elsewhere and then come back to haunt us, which I'm sure he will if Parcells lets Hurd go.

Crayton is a question mark. HE has the skills, but he is injured again. Parcells mentioned that he doesn't respond well after injuries. I think Hurd has to stick in case Crayton goes down again. Hurd is the best alternative as the third WR.

Glenn, Owens, Crayton, Hurd, and Green will be on the final roster. Copper, Rector, and Austin will battle for a 6th spot. Copper has a serious uphill battle. Remember, he came in at the same time in the same situation as Crayton, and is nowhere near Pat in terms of talent or skill.

I think Austin might be the guy. He had those 2 special teams tackles in the Saints game.

The quote is just Parcells trying to light a fire under Hurd. He's going to make the roster. Yeah, he was undrafted, but he got a multi-year deal with bonus money. Plus, BP gave him an opportunity in the first 2 PS games, and Hurd produced. BP had to pull a punt return play out of his butt to find something with which to motivate Hurd, but he found it. If he was trying to motive Nate Jones, he would have said something about Nate should have been blocking someone, but he got knocked on his *** by his own teammate.
