If we do lose Rod, it is quite likely we switch to a man scheme. That would be really nice considering we have the personal for it.

And I think the only Zone CB we have added the past 2 years is Patmon. I like him amd all, but Im gonna lament a UDFA being a poor scheme fit

Cut and let market decide his value

Him taking a contract reduction would greatly help the Cowboys dead money/cap situation as opposed to outright cutting him.

That doesn't mean he won't be cut because I feel he'll probably be will be either because the Cowboys do not want to offer him a contract renegotiation or he won't renegotiate.

He actually did a very nice job on Nelson.

He did a very nice job on Megatron.

Generally, his play picked up at the end of the season.

Will the Cowboys cut him for salary cap purposes OR will they try to force a renegotiation, or what?

Do they bring him back as a starting CB next year?

Offer to keep him with a paycut. If not, adios

He is what is he. Average. He had a bad game today. But he is serviceable and cheap. Good to have around. Still plays better than Mo.

The whole secondary needs an upgrade. Even Scandrick would be a backup on some rosters. The defense needs a new secondary and DEs. The interior and LBs are decent.

I'd keep him for at least another year just for veteran presence alone. Who's really standing out at CB for us? Scandrick, Yes.. we know that. Claiborne? Webb? Moore? Mitchell? Rookies from this year's draft. I think he's a mentor if nothing else unless we land someone in Free Agency. I betcha I could get open on him 3 plays a game if his team didn't give him a pass rush. (Ok, maybe not) But you get my gist. I'm no huge Carr fan, but you do need a couple guys with veteran preference to lead these guys on the field. I'd be totally ok with moving him if we get someone in FA though.

Also keep in mind that if Marinelli goes, the scheme the defense uses could change, i.e. become more man-to-man.

I'd take Carr and Mo back (definite new cap friendly deal for Carr) with a improved pass rush. A talented front 7 can really help a secondary play well.

But if Carr says no to pay cut or restructure then I feel he's done here or should be done here.

IMO, he redeemed himself when the post season stopped. But no matter how bad or good he played this year....we couldn't afford to bring him back for what he's getting paid. I'm for bringing him back at a reasonable contract.

He had a bad game today? Not sure you even watched the game sober.

Let's say we get rid of Carr and MO.. We go into next off season with OScan as about are only Cb. I don't really think Patmon or Sterling are going to be starters here.

So with that in mind... Prepare to spend resources in FA and in the upper rounds of the draft on CBs.

We also need to see if we will go with zone corners or press man corners... Depending on who is DC.

Carr played well today. Hunt Moore down on the heath and keep your stories straight, that guy was a traitor today, only pretending to cover or tackle.

Vet minimum to let the door hit ya. He has been far too inconsistent and unimpressive in his duration here.

I agree, but alot of that has to do with coaching philosophy. He was brought to dallas to play in Ryans man defense not play zone.
