With GB's rush defense being so good. I feel that this is the week Dak should be allowed to go downfield to loosen up the box meant to stop Zeke. Dez could provide greatly needed help, if he plays.

Just throwing it downfield doesn't open up the run game. Moving the chains successfully with intermediate passing game does. You try to get cute and throw bombs a few times on 1st and 10, etc., you just put yourself in 2nd and long and end up punting.

On offense they just need to keep doing what they're doing.

I agree 100%....HOWEVER, I would love to see a 50 yard bomb to Butler off of play action to Zeke on the first play of the game. They'd bite so friggin' hard he'd be open by 10 yards. Just sayin'....

This will be the week where we pull out a Bill Parcels flea Flicker on 2nd and 1 near the 50 yard line. At least I hope

I remember speaking to Chad Morris when he was at Lake Travis about the importance of throwing deep once or twice a quarter to loosen up the run defense. Granted, he was a HS coach back then, but if done correctly and in the flow of the game, the opposing defense would have to account for it. We need to test the secondary early and not only on third and long. Just an opinion.

Going deep especially if Dez doesn't play could lead to trouble. I'm not saying don't take any shots deep but we need to try and establish the run and play mistake free football if we want to have a chance of winning. The read option will loosen them up.

A S with any range can get to LB depth ie 5 yards deep and still drop to the 15 yard range which is the outer limit of almost all of Dak's throws.

Yes. What Dallas wants is to work over the area the linebackers vacate to support the run, then they have to pick their poison by either coming up for the run or dropping into the passing lanes.

The misconception is that the running game opens up the deep pass when generally the corners and safeties are going to protect against getting beat deep, which leaves the middle of the field open. There are certainly opportunities downfield to win one-on-one matchups if the team trusts the QB to put the ball in the perfect spot or the receiver to win the ball, but I don't think Dallas wants Dak doing that when he can hit the wide-open middle route.

Now, if Green Bay wants to protect the short field by having their corners play the short zone and their safeties come up to protect the middle when the linebackers vacate, then you've got to use some double moves and get those receivers wide open downfield.

Just keep doing what we're doing exploit the area 10 2 20 yards down the field just over the linebackers heads and back them off. Dak does the best job of dropping the ball into that zone, it's good as any quarterback I've seen

Or they could just keep doing what they've been doing which has resulted in 4-1 NFC East leading record.

That's what im saying.. Just get the ball and cram it down their throats.. If they are leaving guys open over the top then that would be great.

I don't want Dak to get in a shootout with Rodgers because he will lose that battle.

I agree that you poud the rick until they prove they can stop it.

But Green Bay is vulnerable deep if you can hold the rush at bay on that play.
That secondary is really beat up

I would personally hope that they let Dak break Brady's record before they throw any bombs and unnecessarily risk the INT. The record may not mean anything to Dak, or the Cowboys, but it does mean something to the fans.

Just keep doing what they are doing, no need to press it. Just hit some mid-passes and screens.

Why do so many people assume Green Bay's run defenders are better than our blockers and runners? I think it's at least equally likely that we run all over them as it is we don't. We were faced with a very similar situation in 2014 when we stomped all over the #1 rushing defense up in Seattle. The big bad Legion of Boom was making business decisions by the early fourth quarter.

It may in fact turn out that Green Bay puts the quietus on the Dallas run game, but I'll bet they have to give up a whole lot to do it. My belief lies in an OL and running attack that has flat mauled stacked boxes so far this season.

That said, Green Bay is thin at the third level, so I'm hoping Garrett and Linehan are planing to take the top off Sunday.

I agree.

Heard all week against Cincy how they had not given up a 100-yard rusher or a rushing TD. And...Bob's your uncle.
