Defense has a team meeting

Wheels coming off awfully quick.

I don't know who you're referring to, but nothing would make me happier than this defence and offence dominating next week's opponent (whoever they are).
I hope so...just hope having a players only meeting isn't a death knell....cause apparently that means our season is ovee.

The Cowboys’ defense had a group meeting.

DeMarvion Overshown: “Look at ourselves in a mirror. We put what we wanted our standard to be … on the board. We went bullet point by bullet point: Are we holding up to this? Are we being this? As a unit, how can we get closer? What is it?

“Just hearing from all of us. It really wasn’t like a fire drill conversation.
It was more so what can I do to help you? What do I expect from you on Sundays or even Monday walkthroughs?

“We got to talk to each other like that because the ship is only going to go as far as the weakest person on the boat. So as long as we all in this together, I think we’re going to be great. I know we’re gonna be great.”

He's wrong. Look in the mirror and DO YOUR JOB. No need to be a hero. Do the little things right. Don't worry about the other dude. It's about trust.

it's going to take a lot more than that to turn this around
Bingo. First, having Overshown conduct the meeting kinda feels like the blind leading the blind. The messaging is all wrong too. The problem hasn't been helping each other. The problem is we have players on the field that either shouldn't be, or we have guys that simply haven't a clue about what they are doing. The 3rd issue is easy, we lack good enough players. No amount of coaching helps that

I think that's better when the coach is not there. I'm normally not a confrontational type of guy, so I wouldn't tell CP to get his crap together if he were there. That's what spoken leaders are for. Someone on that defense has to step up and be a leader on the defense. I like to lead by example so I would make a TERRIBLE spoken team leader. The leader can tell CP what everyone is thinking but be quiet on who said what. If I were a coach, I don't think I would want to know which player said I was a trash scheme designer and play caller. Human nature would take over and sometimes that's not the best route to go.
Wouldn't a good example of leading is for you to go to the coaches with player feedback?

It's not an easy thing to do....I think it's why dak has problems being a true leader.

This is exactly what I want to hear from this defense! It starts with accountability, communication, and everyone being willing to do their part. Talent is there, but talent alone won’t win games. They’ve got to trust each other, hold each other accountable, and play as one unit. I like hearing Overshown take this kind of leadership role because that’s what a defense needs when things aren’t going the way they should.

Nobody needs to point fingers or make excuses. They all need to look in the mirror, recognize where they’re falling short, and figure out how to get better together. Every player needs to understand his assignment, do his job, and be willing to pick up his teammate when things go wrong. That’s how you build a defense that can compete for four quarters.

Now, the real test is whether we see a difference on the field in GB. Talking about standards is one thing, but living up to them on Sundays (well Sunday night) is what matters. I want to see more communication, better tackling, fewer blown coverages, more pressure on the quarterback, and a defense that plays with some fire and pride. These guys need to start playing like they have something to prove! Not just collecting a paycheck.

I’m glad they’re having these conversations, and I hope they continue to hold each other accountable throughout the season. If they can turn this mindset into consistent execution, this defense has a chance to improve a lot. Cowboys Nation has been waiting to see that kind of effort and determination. Now it’s time to back up the words with action and show everybody what this team is capable of!

I hope that hit the weight room while they are at it, lots of missed tackles. Seem soft/weak.

Yeah, DeMarvion, look in the mirror!

Overshown isn’t even playing right now. Typically when someone is injured they are generally like a nobody with the rest of the guys playing.
This is vaguely connected, but one year when Bill Bates, again, was injured all year, the Boys were doing everything right and headed to a championship. It was that year when Bates decided to market a line of T-shirts that said "KICK BUTT."
The nerve.
Overshown, too, is presumptuous to think he's the leader or spiritual guide.
DeMarvion, shuddup and report to the training room.
