Regardless of how unpopular it is to say, our DTs we’re pretty much ineffective against the run. Some of the locals will say they did their job by occupying blockers but the Zone is the only forum I visit where anyone even thinks that getting blocked is a good thing.

Once again critical personnel mistakes by the clown show.

EVERY SINGLE SB WINNING COWBOY team was strong against the run and strong up the middle. Good ol Jethro the football man thinks otherwise.

If we can get it from 3.5 YPC to 3.1 YPC we can be one of the best ever

Miles Sanders 71 yards Rushing - Jalen Hurts 155 yards passing. Maybe it was the turnovers and penalties

Turnovers are clearly the difference in this game. You can't turn the ball over 3 times, get 0 turnovers yourself and expect to win games. Philly is a good team and I knew they would make some plays, Cowboys did not make enough plays and had the turnovers which resulted into a loss.

Eagles had 136 yards rushing as a whole .. it's more of a totality than a one man show.

And worse and most important- when Eagles decided to use their run game to sustain a TD drive to go ahead 26- 17, ..that's when we needed to
shore up and stop them to try to get the ball back... but they flat run over us when it came to converting short yardage and sustaining 1st downs

,.. and we couldn't resist them vs the run. .

Exactly, and next year, we need to draft the best NT we can get.

Some here don't realize that it's more than just one guy... it's not a one man show.

Be thankful Stephen is satisfied enuff' with just drafting the Bohanna's and Ridgeway's the way we have in the late rounds.
This team does not value the NT to be drafting that high.

And we're needing to upgrade at LB too.
i dunno how much is instincts, or how much is it physicality, but for a guy that is as big as LVE is, ... he's just not enuff of a factor vs run when it comes to the better teams
that specialize in running the ball.

And i did not think Anthony Barr had a good game either. Cox ? Was he even active ? Just not seems Jabril is a future fixture.

Yes and they averaged 3.5 YPC to our 5.2, it wasn't that impressive to me, we're on the road against one of the best O-lines in league

If we don't turn the ball over and let them own TOP, different game

Armstrong for what he is giving us vs pass rush, he is a liability vs run
Ditto with Fowler..
Bohanna has improved but he's elite, not dominant.
Osa helps vs pass, but he can be smothered vs run if he and others are on the field too long,

it's more a defense built to play downhill and get after the passer- but some teams can sustain against them vs the run, if the game is close and competitive.

Either we don't have enuff strength and physicality among our front DL ...or Quinn's hybrid gap schemes and sub- packages may compromise their ability vs the run - against the teams that
specialize in running the ball.

Someone didn't watch the Eagles just jam it down our throats late in the game and we couldn't get off the field when we cut the lead to 3. We knew they were running and still couldn't stop it.

That's the sign of a mediocre run D. You can put whatever spin on it you want but with the game on the line, Philly lined up and said we dare you to stop us running and we couldn't. Sure the turnovers hurt. The dumb penalties, again, hurt. But the game was a 3 point game, we had momentum, Philly was reeling a bit and then they literally lined up and pounded us into the turf and our run D was incapable of slowing them down.

Did they average 3.5 when we needed to stop them vs the run and get the ball back ?
Did we stopped them to 3 yards vs run when the Eagles went on a run drive to go up 26-17 ?

What good is it getting a loss for two yards vs run, when they come ight back with a 6-7 yard run to sustain more first downs and keep a scoring drive alive ?

We saw what we saw ... we're fooling ourselves if choosing sugar coated stats and excuses cover ups vs defensive timing and situations.

Agreed, especially since Barr is supposed to help with some of the coverages to free up Parsons to get after the QB.

3.5 YPC that's number for Totality. You do know we were on the road against one of the Top -O-lines in the league right?
Down 20-17 did we stop them? No. Do we need to improve? Yes. Is our D-ine holding us back? No

It's poor QB play

This is how it should look. We haven’t had an interior DL capable of doing this since maybe La’roi Glover 20 years ago.

I am going to give the defense the Dak treatment. The game was 20-17 in the 4th quarter. The defense needed to make that stop. Parsons and Lawrence talked some trash and did not back it up.

So, it was Tank and Micah that went for it on 4th in Eagles territory and they threw 3 picks? Sorry the defense didn't lose this game it was the turnovers and a bad coaching decision.

This defense only gave up 268 yards this game. I know it didn't feel like it but overall the Cowboys defense played decently from an Xs and Os standpoint....certainly some obvious exceptions apply to that. Would I love an upgrade in the middle? Absolutely, but lets not pretend this L is because of the defense.

The Cowboys lost this game because they lost the turnover battle 3-0, penalty battle 10-2 (4 of those gave the Eagles 1st downs), and lost TOP by close to 10 minutes.

This defense lost it late, but they never really had a chance. They were gassed from the 1st half alone. This game was the bad side of Cooper Rush showing up. The recipe for Rush being in the game was mistake free football, and we didn't get that this week.

I look at it like Dak against San Francisco. We had the ball past midfield with two minutes to go and 3 timeouts down 23-17. He failed…… The defense had Philadelphia on the ropes. Just scored on a 93 yard drive. We let the Eagles march 70 yards to put the game away.

I saw Gholston make that play last night
OSA made a few like that too. Not sure either just manhandled the Olineman like that, but we had solid play among the Dline last night. What we are seeing is a team that is so aggressive and pass rush happy that the run has become a secondary factor and we will get gashed at times. Would I take an upgrade in the form of Derrick Brown who is probably a top 5 DT right now? I'd drive to Carolina just to pick him up if I had to, but the expectations on this defense right now are insanely high.
