Defense is weak against the run again

The yards thing is a canard because they had a couple short fields. They scored 26 on us and with the game on the line, the defense got mauled in the run game.

Did they though? And I ask that honestly because my initial reaction was that they were constantly gashed watching the game. You take a step back and look at the number though and 3.5YPC with a long run of 13 yards. The more i reflect on the game the more I think about the penalties that extended drives

Just based on the scheme and mentality of this defense I fully expect to give up some runs at times, and I'm fine with that as they go for the negative plays. Real time they seemed to get mauled in the run game, the numbers just dont support what my eyes saw though. To be honest if your offense turns the ball over 3 times, and fails a 4th and short in your own territory 26 points isn't that bad by your defense. Not saying they couldnt do better, but this defense was put at a significant disadvantage as soon as this team fell behind.

Its not just the DTs though they are the biggest reason; our MLB needs to be better against the run as well

Ya that has been a problem for a long time. Even Sean Lee struggled to be that mlb run thumper because of his smaller size. Rolando McClain was the closest thing we had to one until his addiction issues caused his release.

I don’t know why teams don’t run it more against Dallas. A team that can run the ball and stays committed to it is going to be a problem for this defense.

No one issue. Multiple in that game.

I think for the most part, we have the players to control the run. Not a great game called by Q and at times our players just blew or over ran their assignments. Missed tackles also raised it ugly head Sunday. We have been a solid tackling team up to last night.

Did you watch the 4th Q? We cut the lead to three and then Philly came out and pounded us into oblivion. That's when you know if you have a real run D. When a team lines up and says we are gonna pound it and run clock............... and you stop them.

We couldn't. They went like 70 yards, scored and ended the game.

There were 5 runs on that drive alone where they ran for 5 or more yards. 3 of those runs came on 1st down setting Philly up for easy 2nd and 3rd down conversions. There was a 3rd and 4 in there and they just pummeled our DL for the conversion. Make that stop and Philly is punting.

This is true. However, Philly did what they needed to do.

When the game was 20-17 and we had all of the momentum, they pretty much ran the ball down our defenses throat to end the game.

Yes they did; VERY ALARMING. Great defenses dont respond like that

I mean undersized DTs and one of the worst mlbers ive ever seen against the run will provide this type of result
