Defense is weak against the run again

I really don't like that the egirls just gave the rest of the league a blueprint on how to neutralize Parsons.

I look at it like Dak against San Francisco. We had the ball past midfield with two minutes to go and 3 timeouts down 23-17. He failed…… The defense had Philadelphia on the ropes. Just scored on a 93 yard drive. We let the Eagles march 70 yards to put the game away.

You have to factor in that the defense was on the field for a majority of the game because the offense was so inefficient. 2 failed 4th down conversions and 3 turnovers by the offense was the reason for the loss. To say the defense lost this game is laughable.

Yes and they averaged 3.5 YPC to our 5.2, it wasn't that impressive to me, we're on the road against one of the best O-lines in league

Rush was picked three times holding him to 18 of 38 passing for 181 yards but yet many in here want him to replace Dak. Can't expect to win turning the ball over. Egals were lucky vs the Cards missing the FG & playing Dallas without Dak! Like Dallas, their luck will run out as well.

Down 20-17 did we stop them? No. Do we need to improve? Yes. Is our D-ine holding us back? No

It’s their top OL ..vs our top DL, right ?
Its called NFL match up... Its’ called competition football.

It’s what you have best ..vs what we have best.
We don't deserve to even be on the playing field if we cannot match up with their best.
(Vice Versa with their DL vs our OL.)

That last long scoring drive “Closed” the deal.. closed the game.. so how we “ improved “ with that ?

- Despite QB poor play and his 3 INTs, and being down 17-0, a limited backup QB he actually got us within 20-17.
Again when you have a limited backup QB, your supporting cast around him has to step it up.
Defense, special teams, your HC (who missed not challenging vs the Lamb non-first down)

- And yet again, did 3.5 ypc means we stop them vs run, when the game was on the line, when our defense needing to stop them to get the ball back at 20-17 ?

This defense only gave up 268 yards this game. I know it didn't feel like it but overall the Cowboys defense played decently from an Xs and Os standpoint....certainly some obvious exceptions apply to that. Would I love an upgrade in the middle? Absolutely, but lets not pretend this L is because of the defense.

The Cowboys lost this game because they lost the turnover battle 3-0, penalty battle 10-2 (4 of those gave the Eagles 1st downs), and lost TOP by close to 10 minutes.

This defense lost it late, but they never really had a chance. They were gassed from the 1st half alone. This game was the bad side of Cooper Rush showing up. The recipe for Rush being in the game was mistake free football, and we didn't get that this week.

The yards thing is a canard because they had a couple short fields. They scored 26 on us and with the game on the line, the defense got mauled in the run game.

Yeah DAK was just so WONDERFUL when it counted against the 49rs in the playoffs last year

Gholson was considered one of the better run defenders in his draft class as a DE.

OSA made a few like that too. Not sure either just manhandled the Olineman like that, but we had solid play among the Dline last night. What we are seeing is a team that is so aggressive and pass rush happy that the run has become a secondary factor and we will get gashed at times.

Would I take an upgrade in the form of Derrick Brown who is probably a top 5 DT right now? I'd drive to Carolina just to pick him up if I had to, but the expectations on this defense right now are insanely high.

then if that is the case, then we are Rod Marinelli all over again ... only prioritize stopping the run... on the way to the QB.

Also means it's only a matter of time before a competitive team that is a real threat to run the ball on us .. will do so again, and at the most critical time (ala Playoffs)

Its not just the DTs though they are the biggest reason; our MLB needs to be better against the run as well

We need that big trashcan full of dirt that Jethro refuses to get because supposedly that is too limiting to use up a roster slot
