They are also tracking to give up just under 5000 yards passing.

I made this point last week: As well as people felt the Cowboys' defense had played, it ranked only 20th in passing efficiency. That's not good. It will be much worse after this week, and it must improve if the Cowboys are to improve.

Our defense is good enough. The offense is what will ultimately be our downfall.

Being on pace to give up 40 TD passes and close to 5000 passing yards isn't what I consider good enough. That's a defense that's not only bending but is breaking.

Teams get lit up in today's NFL so get over it.
Anyway, here's a list of the four highest pass TD totals allowed in the history of pro football, none of which occurred within the last 30 years.

1963 Den 40
1969 StL 38
1981 Bal 37
1961 Was 37

Through 3 1/2 games I've been more than pleased.

I'm not ready to say they suck and are the worst against the pass of all time like some of you are.

You may be pleased but this looks like the same team we've been seeing for the past 3 years up and down up and down. The Cowboys pass coverage may not be the worst of all-time but after 4 games it sucks. The defense bends and breaks giving up yards and TD's. If Peyton Manning is on next Sunday like he has been Norm Van Brocklin's 62 year old passing record of 554 yards may be in jeopardy. It's going to come down to whether the Cowboys can hang in for 4 quarters causing Manning to have to continue to throw the ball in a shootout with Romo. The way the Broncos are playing they may have the Cowboys buried by the 3rd quarter allowing Denver to just run the ball the rest of the way.

The only chance the Cowboys have next week is if Denver takes them lightly or Manning is totally off his game like he was back in 2010 when he tossed 4 int's vs the Cowboys. Except this time the Cowboys may have to return everyone of them for a TD to have chance because the offense can't generate enough points. If the Peyton Manning we've been seeing the past 4 games shows up next week he's going to absolutely SHRED this Cowboys defense. This game has the potential to get very ugly especially listening to Tony Dungy's comments on NBC talking about how Manning knows the tampa 2 defense better than Kiffin. It's going to be gut check time next week for the Cowboys.

as long as claiborne keeps starting, then this is a legitimate conclusion.

I think he's right there with BW Webb at the bottom of our 53 man depth chart

Got 6 turnovers in the Giant game... held kansas city to 17 points... held seattle to 7 points... With the exception of this game, the defense has played phenomenally.

The pass defense was 20th in passer rating allowed going into the game, and gave up a 120.3 rating today. Through four games, opposing QB have a 99.6 rating and average 7.8 yards per attempt against the Cowboys, which should put Dallas somewhere around 25th in those categories.

People who are saying they're not worried about a defense that allows an average 99.6 passer rating are either whistling past the graveyard, or unaware of the fact that, in their last 20 games, the Cowboys are 1-19 when the opposing QB throws for a 99.6 rating or better.

Since the beginning of 2012, teams that allow a 99.6 rating or higher are 41-148-1.

Maybe this week we spend less time coming up with cute little nicknames for our defensive lineman, and more time coaching the team on how to stop an offense.

Just a thought..

This should hopefully put the brakes on the Kiffin Butt-Kissing Express, which pulled out of the station after beating a crap Giants team and has hopefully slowed to a crawl...
