It's a passing league with the rules favoring offenses and all defenses bend but you can't bend and break by allowing TD's. To slow teams down you have to keep them out of the end zone and hold them to FG attempts. The Cowboys not only got a turnover yesterday it was a pick-six but still lost by 11 points because they couldn't prevent Rivers from putting up 3 TD's and the Cowboys offense only produced 13 points. Houston lit up Seattle yesterday with a lot of yards but only came away with 20 points. The Cowboys forced 6 turnovers against the Giants on opening day including 2 defensive scores and won by only 5 points because Eli shredded the defense for 4 TD passes and the Cowboys only came away with 3 points off the Giants first 3 turnovers. You can't count on 3-4 takeaways every week and a defensive score to win games you have to hold opponents to FG's not TD's and your offense has to be able to score points. The Cowboys pass defense is so piss poor Rivers attempted 42 passes yesterday completing 83.3% which is unheard of unless you're playing pitch and catch in your backyard.

I think the defense was absolutely awful in the 2nd half yesterday. They are definetely more to blame for the loss.

I just don't think they are a bad group overall. If they play more like they did in the 2nd half of that game then I will change my mind.

I expect our defense, and everyone elses defense, to get passed on though.

Years of Dave Campo's stench in the secondary will do that to you...

The Cowboys defense has some serious issues. Even during the blowout win over the Rams it wasn't very good in the second half. After holding the Rams to 26 total yards in the first half Bradford put up most of his 240 passing yards in the second half which had to be a career high for him in a one half but they could only manage a TD. The Rams who couldn't even buy a first down in the first half finished the game with 17 first downs which was only 4 fewer than the Cowboys. The Cowboys can't play a complete 60 minutes of football against anyone. They could get up by 21 points next Sunday to Denver and end up blowing the lead and losing by 14. I really don't know what you're seeing that had you pleased for 3 1/2 games because I've been following the Cowboys since 1971 and I can't remember them ever looking this inept in pass coverage this early in the season.

With Peyton up next Sunday along with Eli again later in the season and Stafford, Brees and Rodgers the Cowboys defense could end up setting a futility record for passing yards and TD's against them. It's the number of TD passes they're giving up that's so concerning. They may not be a bad group overall but the pass coverage has been dreadful so far. Rivers completed 83.3 percent of his passes yesterday off of 42 attempts. I can't recall a QB ever completing that high a percentage of their passes off of 40+ attempts. Peyton Manning has got to be licking his chops waiting to face this defense.

I wonder if the Broncos will start doing football versions of the Harlem Globetrotter drills on Sunday while we play the role of the Generals. Maybe get the fans involved with buckets of confetti.

You can bring in the best coaches in the world and there will be some improvement, BUT if you insist on playing two Strong Safeties and hitch your wagon to street free agent defensive linemen, then all of the scheming and preparation won't matter.

The organization has to do a better jobs of diagnosing their own weaknesses and then properly addressing them.

This should hopefully put the brakes on the Kiffin Butt-Kissing Express, which pulled out of the station after beating a crap Giants team and has hopefully slowed to a crawl...

Kiffen sucks, without Sapp he' s nothing.

The rankings just came out today, and our defense is 24th in defensive passer rating, 23rd in yards per attempt, 24th in adjusted yards per attempt, 13th in sack percentage, 19th in interception percentage, 25th in completion percentage, and 27th in touchdown percentage.

Of all those stats, the two that correlate most highly with wins are passer rating and adjusted yards per attempt. All else being equal, teams that rank 24th finish 6-10.

KJJ.. The entire leagues pass defense sucks. Thats my point.
Your point doesn't make sense. It's the same as saying an offense that ranks in the top 10 in passing isn't really any good because the entire league's pass offense is good.

Teams get lit up in today's NFL so get over it.

Our defense is good enough. The offense is what will ultimately be our downfall.

No, it isn't. Not even freaking close to being good enough.

The last part is what scares me with this D, they have been so bad and they have yet to see the big guys on the schedule yet. Peyton knows this D like the back of his hand like Dungy said yesterday, and if these guys don't setup on D we will be totally embarrassed......again.

We can't stop anyone from throwing the ball on D, and all we do is dink and dunk on offense......its disgusting really.

I actually think it'll be our DL that'll make or break rest of the season. I think our offense will get better as OL gels. However, our DL is very thin and often injured. I don't see that getting better as the season progress. Lack of pressure upfront will be our downfall .

Dungy said Peyton knows the tampa 2 defense better than Kiffin now that's scary. Usually when you think something is going to end up really bad a lot of times it never ends up as bad as you think. I just hope this is one of those times because this game has debacle written all over it.

But I thought that bringing in a 73 year old DC who's been out of the league for years and was lit up in college was the answer
