Defensive Line up

Outstanding post. Imo neither line was improved with an impact starter and even quality depth can be questioned.

After just watching last year's example of how starter quality d line play over non starter o line players will determine wins and losses...

And this team did little to nothing in order to truly fortify both lines just leaves me scratching my head.

Guess I should be used to it by now, lol

-We didnt get a staring FS even though the stud everyone wanted got picked right in front of us
-We didnt get a starting DT even though the best one Barmore was an easy trade up in the 2nd round.
-We didnt get our starting 1T, McNeil even though an easy trade up of 3 spots in the 3rd could have nailed it.
-Starting corner is a reach and has maturity and attitude problems.

Incredibly disappointing. Lets hope for a few miracles.

Oh, I'm totally with ya. AND talking free agency, it wasn't like Minnesota broke the bank signing Tomlinson from the Giants either. They didn't even attempt an offer there either.

And offensively, don't get me started on if, or should I say when, Tyron Smith goes down. Lol

I know quality depth in the NFL is a rarity. But I surely hope not to watch Steele, Knight or Nseske hafta start for more than a couple of games that's for sure.

My opinion.

Reading between the lines, you wanted Slater?

Or trade up for Sewell.

For me, how this draft played out is EXACTLY why we had to take defense with our 1st pick. Because Jerry basically blew the entire rest of the draft. Had we not taken Parsons we hardly help our defense at all.

You and many others may be right on how bad this defense needed help. But I still can't get past the impact on wins and losses that Tyron/Collins's losses had on this offense to even look functional against first team defenses.

I thought Rodgers loss of Bakhtiari and Mahommes loss of Fisher further illustrated my point last year.

I thought Sewell was the 2nd best player in the whole draft under Lawrence. And yeah, I would have taken Slater over Parsons. Only because outside of being Lawrence Taylor, I just thought Slater's overall team impact on wins/losses was greater than Parsons.

And this is me knowing how sucky the defense was and still is.

If a Bosa or Chase Young type War Daddy had been available I would concede to him as just as important. There just wasn't one of those available this year. Heck, Jerry probably wouldn't have done what it took to select that guy either so it's moot.

Im not as worried about LT as some of you guys are. I see them having the option to just take Martin and put him over at LT when Tyron is done. He will be an all pro over there. Guards are much easier to find and we actually have Mcgovern ready to take over one of those spots.

Fair enough. I could definitely live with that. Now as for this staff carrying out that plan, to be determined.
