Hello everyone,

I Just had a couple of questions for anyone who might know the answer.

When is the Defensive player of the year announced?

Also, is DeMarcus Ware the front runner for the award or will it most likely go to someone else?

Thanks for the help in advance....i appreciate it!

It will be announced Monday, unless it gets leaked before then.

From the sounds of it, Bob Sanders will win -- which would be a joke. No DPOY in history will have done less.

Bob Sanders is a pretty darn good defensive player....But no way he should win the DPOY award. There is just absolutely no way that he impacts every snap the way that Ware and even some of the other candidates do.

IMO Bob sanders would be a horrible selection for this years DPOY award.

If he wins, it's more proof of an anti-Cowboys bias in the media. Sanders is great at his position, but DeMarcus deserves it.

Great at his position? What does he do that's great?

Sanders winning it would be remarkably stupid.

how come Cromartie isn't getting consideration for DPOY?

He did have like 11 INTs.....ran back like 3 or 4 for TDs.

He had a 3 INT game, running 2 of them back for TDs.

It seemed like week in and week out he was making huge plays.

I doubt Anthony Henry was getting consideration when he had 10 INTs in his rookie season. Of course, that was the year Strahan had his 22.5 sacks.

rookies get no love....but this is Cromartie's 3rd year I believe.

IMO, he has had a much better year than Bob Sanders.

There are probably 30 or so players that have had better years than Sanders.

Cromartie wasn't even a starter until halfway through the season.

I think this is a good question. I would argue that Cromartie has had a bigger impact on a more consistant basis than Bob Sanders by far. It does seem like he was always making plays when his team needed them in crucial situations. I would much rather see Cromartie get the award than Bob Sanders. However, I still say that Ware is the most deserving candidate.

He's one of the best run stuffers in the league, including against mobile quarterbacks, and does a good job in his pass defense as well. Not Ed Reed or Antonio Cromartie like with his big plays, but handles it well. Anyone who debates his value to the Colts' D is a hater. Im not saying he's DPOY, but he's one of the best in the league.

This seems right. He does a good job against the run and does good job against the pass. He's not really great at either. He's just a good player.

A hater? I've just seen the guy play quite a bit and realized that he doesn't have much an "impact" on games. He's good, yes, but Jay Ratliff is good. Jermaine Phillips is good. Osi Umenyiora is good. But none of those players deserve DPOY awards.

You're saying what Im saying. I said if you debate his value to his team, you're a hater. He's the leader of his defense.

Over 2006 and 2007 their defense performed as well or better when he was not playing. That's a really good thing for their defense since he's so fragile.

Their D played horrible down the stretch last season until he came for the playoffs. Im not saying he was the sole reason for the improvement, but he helped. And how did they perform better in '07 without him? He missed like one game.

Mario Williams and Patrick Willis two guys not getting run but deserve consideration. There is no clear cut winner this year.

Couldn't we skew last year and say the same thing about Greg Ellis? After all, our defensive meltdown coincided with his absence. Somehow, Greg missed out on the hype machine that Bob Sanders has achieved for results that can't be quantified.

"What does Bob Sanders excel at?"

"Beats me, but one year his team's defense improved upon his return and people talked about that alot..."

Greg Ellis has the same qualifications...only noone talks about it alot. :(

Early in the year, I managed to watch alot of Colts games, and to be quite honest Nick Harper was the more impressive player.
