Watching Dallas' last game you might think the Eagles secondary was all that stopping Owens, Glenn and Witten but with a closer look you will see alot of it had to do with guys coming free and putting pressure on Romo and the Eagles DBs knowing they could over play certain routes because they only have to cover for so long before the QB would be sacked. Makes a big difference.

Absolutely. If anyone took my post as me saying the Sandy Eggo secondary is carrying the rest of their defense let me reiterate quickly.

The Sandy Eggo secondary is very solid. With the exception of Jammer, it's comprised of former no names who have made a name for themselves. I was suprised when they took Kiel and Florence in the same draft after taking Sammy Davis in the 1st round. They made a statement on draft day 03 taking three guys from the secondary in succession and those guys are holding up their end of a top notch defense.

Sorry. Must have been a Pavlovian response to seeing a post with your name on it. And yes, I do hate Terrell Owens. Why do you think it is that people hate him?

Why do you care to begin a TO conversation in a Deion thread?

I know you're not saying that, I'm just saying that a fearsome pass-rush will make any secondary look good

hell, we have 3, very good players in our secondary, and we're getting burned deep repeatedly, and teams are converting on 3rd and longs with impunity

So maybe you'll start realizing how annoying it is to have T.O. around.

Perhaps you'll start realizing this is a Deion thread. I won't be poisoning this thread just because someone is a little upset the haterade pitcher was left in the fridge empty.

Hey is that you doomsday? I thought the other doomsday (doomsday101) was you. Good to see you man! As for Diego, it's already public knowledge that he and I are different people (siblings yes, same person no.) Registar is an unfamiliar name to me.

What do you mean by this haterade nonsense? It just strikes me as an empty line, with no real meaning. Do I, and many others hate T.O.? The answer is yes. However, it's due to the fact that he's an idiot (much like Jeremy Shockey, whom I also dislike.)

My biggest frustration is that Oline and Dline have been below adequate for 10 years now and it doesnt seem like either is going to get much better any time soon as Canty, Spears, Coleman etc. are all role players and nothing more.

Was it just me or did you notice that it seemed the Eagle offensive linemen were towering over our defensive linemen? Those are some gigantic boys. As much as I hate to say it, they play gigantic too.

Perhaps if I don't reply you will leave doomsday's thread be and let it get back to the topic at hand. This will be my last reply. Thanks.

Ok fair enough. But I wouldn't mind an answer to my question at a later time. Apologies for the thread hi-jack, and once again, good to see you Dooms!

There will be another Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Joe Montana, etc - but in my lifetime I will never see another corner as good as Deion Sanders. Newman may have the physical tools and the coverage skills, but he just lacks the ability to make game changing plays.

Sadly, I believe this to be true. However, if there happens to be another to come along I hope he ends up wearing a star.

Brings up an interesting question. If you could have the next L. Taylor, Bruce Smith/R. White type player, which would you rather have? The unblockable sack machine that disrupts the QB or a lock down corner capable of taking any pick to the house?

No doubt the unblockable sack machine that disrupts everything. You put a guy in the middle that just makes the whole offense cringe and it won't matter much who you have at CB. It all starts in that front 7. Now granted, you have to give that guy a line to take pressure off of him so he's free to do what he does without having an offensive guard hanging all over him every play.

Thinking of Bradie James, I rarely see a guard locking him up so our defensive line must be doing something fairly well although they have no idea how to pressure a QB. That said, Bradie James could surely benefit from locking himself in a room with nothing but game film of LT's lifetime highlights and watching it until it's etched in his brain.

I really think Jerry has been in some kind of trance since Deion left trying to find that one magical player who can shut down one side of the field instead of trying to build this team from the front out. I would rather have 4 no name average players in the secondary and 4 studs up front everyday of the week. The top defenses in this league know how to pressure the QB, period! SD, Chicago and Baltimore can bring the heat with or without blitzing and force teams out of their rhythm. Trent Green was so rattled in the last SD match up he was chucking the ball off target even when he had all day in the pocket because he was rattled from all the other times they were in his face.

My biggest frustration is that Oline and Dline have been below adequate for 10 years now and it doesnt seem like either is going to get much better any time soon as Canty, Spears, Coleman etc. are all role players and nothing more. Adams is getting up there, Rivera is done and Kosier is serviceable at best so the Oline will continue to struggle to pickup critical yards when it matters most and good teams will continue to pressure Romo until they draft some players worth a damn. Hopefully that will happen sometime in this decade.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Jerry likes flashy players, they sell ticket and jerseys, he could care less about the trenches, with the lines he barely does enough to get buy and most of the time not even that much.

You gotta give me the R. White prototype DE that can constantly get in the QBs face. The shut down corner looks good, but a CB is only good as his guys up front (ask T New about it)

The game is won in the trenches. The unblockable sack machine is by far the beter player to have.
