I hope I'm wrong but I don't like a 7th round pick protecting my qb's blind side.
Yeah can't have a 7th round pick protecting an undrafted frea agent quarterback...people might start to get the idea that being a number one draft pick isn't that important.

True but Tui was just a monster and didn't have to deal with the speed rushers of today.

He did well against Bruce Smith in two Superboowls!!!

You make an excellent point. I can remember like it was yesterday. San Diego shocked everyone by taking basically their whole secondary in the draft following the one Jammer was drafted in.

Cornerback Sammy Davis (1st round, Texas A&M)
Safety Terrence Kiel (2nd round, Texas A&M)
Cornerback Drayton Florence (2nd round, Tuskegee)

Sammy Davis may not have stuck but Kiel and Forence have combined with Jammer to provide a very solid secondary. Schottenheimer can pretty much put those guys back there and fuggettaboutit. They're all around the same age to so they all came of age together playing in that scheme. I remember having to look those names up when following the draft. No need to look them up anymore.

They compliment Sandy Eggo's down linemen very well. No problem getting pressure there.

I think San Diego's secondary is average. I have watched many of their games and I see them looking good because of the great pass rush.

Jammer is even a little suspect when he left alone with no pressure.

Secondary is the only weak spot on their team. IMO

San Diego is 13-2 and does not give up big plays. A large part of that can be attributed to their defense with that ferocious front 7. However, though they aren't world beaters, their secondary does not consist of slouchers.

Jammer is 2nd on the team in tackles behind the tackling machine (D. Edwards) while ringing in 4 INTs. Drayton Florence is 5th in tackles with 3 INTs, and Terrance Kiel is 9th in tackles. Marlon Mcree is 7th in tackles with 1 INT. They're not world beaters on the secondary but they've held up their end.

That's a lot more than we can say for our secondary. Our secondary and defensive line have not been bringing their lunch pails to games this year. Period. The only one that I can honestly say has been holding up his end (in the secondary) is Tnew. That's not good enough.

My whole point in the earlier post was to respond to what Doomsday had said.

You take Jamal Williams out of that Charger DL and you have a major difference... He allows 2nd year DE Castillo to play at a very high level.

Plus they have mean SOBs at LB... something Dallas lacks... Foley is a crazy hitting machine and Merriman brings an attitude to boot. I'm not saying the Dallas LB corps is a bunch of choir boys, but that big time fire seems to be more apparent in other teams. Much moreso than in Big D.

Everything talent wise acquired behind those guys is just gravy.
