Deion Sanders says we go 6-10 if we cut Terrell Owens

Changing may in fact be not coddling to any player. I wouldn't throw it to TO because he may hurt my feelings. And if he got out of hand then I'd suspend him WITHOUT PAY for conduct detrimental to the team. As a parent you get what you allow. A player is not really that much different than a child you have authority over.

If they are bowing to the diva then they are enabling the problem. I see many problems on the team that have nothing to do with TO or Romo. Like blocking and tackling.

It's just not a simple problem that you can point once with one finger.

This is not true. Jerry Jones has said numerous times that the roster is what it will be. He even said on a radio show that if he cut TO he could not sign Ware and he wanted to sign Ware. So the Cowboy execs have said they are keeping TO. Has Jerry Jones changed his mind before? Of course. But he has stated he's keeping TO.

When Jerry said this he was either grossly misinformed or lying, or perhaps he knew the truth and was just planting a seed with people that TO was going to be back despite the public backlash against him.

Because the truth is there is no major cap impact to cut him or keep him, if they couldnt resign Ware after cutting TO, they cant sign Ware if they do keep TO. There is very little difference in the cap impact.

As Shefter said, whether they cut him or keep him the cap charge is basically the same. At that point it comes down to whether they believe they are better off with or without him.

On the way back home, I heard Deion Sanders on The Fan talking Cowboys.

The hosts of the Show asked Deion Sanders what our record would be if we cut Terrell Owens. Deion Sanders said we would be 8-8. One of the Co-host promptly asked him what the big difference between 8-8 and 9-7.

Deion Sanders quickly changed his mind and stated that we would be 6-10 if we released Terrell Owens.

He also made it very clear that he felt Tony Romo was the main problem and not Wade Philips, Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett or Terrell Owens.

Deion, ordinarily I would say you are mistaken, but right now I say you are just stupid.

No, most billionaires do not make more money in a "bear" market, as their portfolio is far more tied to the stock market than is the average person's. Thus some of the really terrible news stories recently centered on some of the world's wealthiest people. I'm sorry, that doesn't fly.

And there is no contradiction. "Cap dollars" are not real dollars. That money is spent. It can't, at this point, be thrown away. The question is whether he wants to spend more money on the same asset.

It's true Jones has made the comments you attribute to him. I should have been more clear. There has been no vehement, or even mildly vehement contradiction of recent statements regarding the potential for Owens to leave... unlike contrdictory statements regarding the team flights.

I understand your "where there's smoke, there's fire" comparison," but it isn't the same thing as saying, "where there's a track record, it must be considered." You make an apples to oranges comparison.

By and large, your arguments make some good sense, and I appreciate that you didn't attack. It's a good discussion.

Yes a a lot (not all) millionaires make more money in bear markets. The difference between them and us is they have people who can manage it hour by hour. I know of one friend of mine who is a millionaire and he is actually doing really well now. I wish I could afford his money managers!

And these guys are a family of sorts. They spend lots of time together. They war together on the football field. The spend time travelling together. Football is no longer a work from June til January sport. It's a year long endeavor. So it's no surprise that they maintain great friendships once they retire. So in that respect, yes you can look at it like a family. You and I may not see it that way, but those guys do.

Like I said though, I am at that point where I do not care one way or the other, simply because I believe even if we do get rid of him, the problems will still be there.

It's not cap impact that's the problem. His salary still stays there. We will still be 10 million under the cap, true. But his salary will sit on our cap next year if TO is cut. We don't get the 9 million back.

So basically it's like Jerry paying for a player not on the roster. So the question is, does Jerry want to pay for a player that's not on his roster, or use him and get his money's worth out of him.

I disagree because Wade Phillips will still be the Head Coach, Jason Garrett will be the Offensive Coordinator and even worse, Jerry Jones will still have complete control.

Terrell Owens is only part of the problem.

Originally, I just felt he just needed to work on his turnovers. Now I am starting to feel that he lacks leadership qualities and possibly a strong work ethic Bill Parcells demanded he have in his 10 Commandments he gave to Tony Romo.
