Think about this.
If you are the Vikings and you are 'building a team' and you come out this year and win a playoff game, but then lose the next one you can be somewhat satisfied as a team and as a fan base.
They didn't make the playoffs in 2006 and 2007. Their young QB is still trying to prove he bleongs in the NFL. So they are just rounding into form as to what they will be for a few years. That's there hope anyway.
As for the Cowboys. This team is built already. The QB is ready. The WR and TE positions have a top five player lining up. They made the playoffs the last two seasons. The coaching staff if filled with high profile names.
The Vikes 'window' is open a crack. The Cowboys 'window' is wide open, so wide open Leonard Davis can jump thru it.
Coming up with a one playoff win this season will not translate into Jerry Jones sitting in his luxury box giddy about the future. It will leave with a feeling of 'what the heck else can I possibly do to get back to the freaking Super Bowl already?'.
I understand that, but what you guys fail to realize is that I am agreeing with you.
You are absolutely correct that this team is built for NOW, but after 12 years of no playoff victories, you have to be logical. If you go into this season thinking Super Bowl or bust, odds are in favor of you having another extreme emotional breakdown as a fanbase.
I know it sounds like I"m trying to stay on both sides of the fence here, but I'm trying to make everyone understand that you must be fair to your team, the coaches, and the players. I promise you they are going into this season with the exact same expectations as you, and they will feel the pressure far more than any of us ever will. Jerry expects to win it every year, even if Quincy freaking Carter is QB.
I feel that Dallas is the BEST team in the league this year for the first time since my boy Troy Aikman was at the helm. I felt they were the second best last year, until those frauds NY came along and STOLE a dang championship. It makes me want to puke to think about what could've happened last year. Dallas should be Super Bowl champs this year, but would've could've should'ves don't count.
I really just think it's unfair to say BUST if Dallas fails to win it all. I think an NFC Championship would be a successful season. It would still sting like a S.O.B. if the 'Boys don't win it all though.
