DeMarco Murray didn't seem all that enthused about signing with Philly

He never sounds very enthusiastic, but he did also look like a player who made a decision with his heart and not his brain.

Either way, though, he was overpaid and is a risk for a big drop off. We dodged a bullet on not giving him an expensive extension, and this is probably going to end up being a contract that PHI regrets in two seasons.

I love reading that board. This board has rules and language filters. Not that one. It really is a philly board. Personal insults, homophobia, racism, pornography, beastiality, anything goes.

I make my presence known their quite often.

Or maybe the chose to keep the better player who will play at an elite level longer and isn't injury prone AND has put up three consecutive elite seasons compared to the one Murray had on a contract year no less. And let's not forget Murray had almost 400 carries as well.

This.

He's never been a good live public speaker. Just watch his segment when he was on First Take... it's cringeworthy. Who knows if he's really happy to be there. I'm sure he can't be stupid enough to believe he has a better shot (or any shot) at winning a title in Philly. I think he went there because he felt disrespected by our offer. When he's either injured, struggling because he doesn't have our O-line, or simply not getting the carries he wants because of Mathews/Sproles, those Philly fans are gonna be harsh to him and he's gonna wish he was back in Dallas.

So only 3 teams came calling with huge paydays that we know of ... I'm going with the majority of the NFL ... and that is was not going to stay healthy and put those numbers up again. And I call BS on "I'm in Philly because this gives me the best chance at a SB", if thats the case call the Patriots or the Colts on a 1 year deal ... it was the best team offering him top 5 running back money. I'm thankful we didn't invest those kind of $$$ in a guy who essentially stayed healthy for 1 year and put up career numbers. He is no Smith or Dorsett thats for sure.

He had two bigger offers.

Nobody plays for free.

And he said it's about getting what you deserve and what's fair combined with having a chance to win.

When someone says it isn't about the money.... Most understand they are saying it isn't solely about the money. And here I belive him.

Were the Jags and Raiders offering more money? If so, how much?

Unclear. He said in his presser he had two larger offers. Reported to be jax and Raiders (who offered the most).

I wonder if he was just saying that. Or maybe it was a bigger contract but less guarantee money.
The amount of the contract isn't the issue. It's how much he gets in guarantee money. The Raiders could have offered a $44 million contract with $18 million in guarantee money. But that's not as good as the deal he got because there's no assurances he's going to see the end of that contract.

So, it's still about the money even though he says otherwise. I'd like to know who much in guarantee money he was being offered? I suspect it was less than what the Eagles offered, and that's why he's in Philly.

I think he really liked being a Cowboy. He had tight relationships with players and coaches. Seems like a very intelligent likeable guy.

As to how the Philly fans are acting we only need to look at this forum. Accept better language.

Not really Murray has always been low key and mild manner when talking with the press. I think he wanted to remain in Dallas but just as the Cowboys have to think about the business aspect so does Murray.

This. Never seen otherwise w/the guy.

I'm pretty sure guaranteed money was implied.
