That pic just shows how Peppers beats his man and makes a great play to me.

It was an incredible shed and burst (directional change as well.. ridiculous move) that most defensive lineman are incapable of doing. That's why guys like Peppers get paid the big bucks. Most RBS (yes most) are not expecting a burst from that outside as they step through the hole. Remember one thing folks.. basic football. Plays flow in one direction or another unless you're in a tricky mood. The play was meant to go off tackle to the right. So naturally a RB will be expecting two things.

1. For any pressure to come from his inside shoulder.
2. For the outside to be mostly soft because.. well.. that's why you have blocking assignments.

So, as much as it broke my heart to see that play unfold, it would be unfair to me to blame Demarco solely for that game changer. Oh, btw, if you look at it from the correct angle, you will see that he is carrying the ball close to his chest when Peppers paw swipes it out. The fumbles will go away because he is starting to do some of the things the coaches want to see. Switching to the outside hand.. Not carrying the ball like a loaf of bread.. icing on the cake so to speak.

That was a great play by Peppers. Nearly all backs cough it up there

Would like to see them categorize these types of turnovers into " stripped by opposition" and " player lost control of ball"...

I often think- if that was Dunbar or Randle carrying the ball on that play I think there's a better chance of it being a TD.

We all know Dunbar has speed and we've seen Randle explode on those types of plays already (see 2nd Commanders game, Jags game, etc).

Yeah, i see what you are saying , but they way DeMarco carries the ball.......if Dallas retains his services you are just going to have to live with his fumbles let just hope they come at good times if you will. I know hes not in the same league ,but he reminds me of Thurman Thomas alot.

Agree he's got to protect it better, but also would like the term " stripped " to be used instead of " fumble ", which in my perspective in normal life would relate to " not controlling/handling something" unaffected by another person.

The only thing that ran through my mind when that fumble happened was "it's Patrick Crayton all over again." Different situation, great play by Peppers but that's how I felt at least.

I have always thought the NFL should have a scorer like MLB does. Best examples are Interceptions; many are the fault of the receivers but the QB gets the blame on record.

Thanks for the vid. It's tough to get a clear shot, but he looks like he's dropping his arm and swinging his arms in traffic again to me there. He's got a decent grip on the ball, but it's not snug up against his body in traffic.

In my opinion he has it away from his body when he initially goes through the line, he sees Peppers and brings the ball up tight to his chest and then Peppers is still able to poke the ball away.

I don't think Murray scores if he doesn't fumble. The still shot earlier in this thread doesn't tell the whole story. There are a couple of Packers defensive backs with the angles to tackle Murray or at least slow him down enough for more defenders to make the play. There is nothing wrong with a 20 to 30 yard gain on the play if he doesn't fumble. That still would have put Dallas in a good position.

I'm undecided if that play or the incredible lost opportunity at the end of the first half contributed more to our loss.

I hated both scenarios (Murray's because there was an Interstate's worth of real estate available to him if he reaches the second level). But, I have to lend credence to the fact that the end of the 1st half nightmare was a six point swing. We lost by 5. *sigh*

Emmitt had nothing to do with that play but I do recall he would fumbled too. The only thing that turnover prevented was getting about 15 yards. You are being too presumptuous to assume any more.

Murray fumbled at the most inopportune time. It was a huge error and mistake. I am not going to credit Peppers as much as I am going to blame Murray. Also, I know he has zero homerun speed. However, that hole was huge and no one was in the immediate secondary. It was going to be a 30-35 yd. gain, before he decided to slow down and run into a Packers player, instead of maintaining his speed and gaining 5-10 extra yds.

no, that is not true, however great a play you think Peppers made(which in my opinion it was okay) but Murray should have not fumbled that ball, secure the ball that is number one.
