Tank is a warrior. Great comments in this thread. Sounds like real Football fans!!! Love it. Other than of course the one guy who is probably watching his fantasy football scores during the Cowboy games...

I've got respect for the guy, who always plays hard. The question I would ask is would you allocate the same amount of money to him if you were starting over again?

Tickles me when I read a comment about a player being "overpaid." Like it is a fault of the player or something. People trying to be critical of him and his performance. So I ask, "Is it wrong to have a good agent who can negotiate well?" and "Is it wrong to be critical of the player because the team GM and/or owner signed a contract that gave the player more than he deserved?"
Call me overpaid all day long if you wish. I am still cashing the check you gave me and smiling about it.

Demarcus Lawrence finished playing his 9th year in the NFL, all as a Dallas Cowboy.

D-Law (age 30 at the time) played all 17 games (plus 2 playoff games) and finished 2022 with the single season highest tackling numbers in his career. 65 total tackles, 43 solo tackles, 11 stuffs (tackle for a loss of yards): all career single season highs. Plus, he still accumulated 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles (1 recovered) and 3 pass deflections. D-Law also played both postseason games for 2022, had 6 total tackles (4 solo), 2 assists, 1 sack and 2.5 stuffs (tackle for a loss). Not bad for a soon to be 10 year Defensive End/Tackle veteran who is now 31 years old (April).

D-Law certainly earned his paycheck in 2022. Looking forward to seeing how Demarcus Lawrence performs in 2023 with better weapons now around him.

Okay I'll be the one.
His second contract was a travesty.
And yes, spare me the run stopping accolades and pressures responses. He was paid as Jerry's War Daddy to get sacks, and the return on this fully guaranteed 100 million dollars aligns similarly with the lack of play for pay 2nd contracts Jerry gave Dak, Jaylon and Zeke as well.

It's what makes Jerry, well, ...
Jerry.

He still gets a decent amount of respect…..this analyses of him is pretty fair with some important stats

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-final-2022-edge-defender-rankings

22. DEMARCUS LAWRENCE, DALLAS COWBOYS (78.1)

While not quite at the elite level that he’s been playing at in previous seasons, Lawrence continues to be a consistent threat off the edge as both a pass rusher and a run defender. Entering his 30s, a drop-off in pass-rush production wouldn’t be much of a surprise, but he still earned a 74.6 pass-rush grade (26th), which led to 55 total pressures (tied for 19th).

Lawrence remained dominant as a run defender, leading the position in run-stop rate (12.5%). He has landed among the top 10 in that metric in four of the past five seasons.

Lawrence has been a popular player to complain about simply because he's not producing double digit sacks while getting paid a lot. However, he does get pressures, is a great run defender and definitely under appreciated. I liken him similarly to Greg Ellis' career. Good player who's always active on the dline even though he doesn't light up the sack sheet with sacks.

Lawrence has had 9 sacks and 14 tackles for loss over the past 2 seasons. For context Nick Bosa had 34 sacks and 40 TFLs over the last 2 years. Lawrence is dramatically overpaid and has been down since he signed that deal.

Cowboy fans as a group are rated so low in the NFL that they are simply insulted. You really proud of your kind of Jerry and Prescott insults that earn that very label as an insult to Cowboy fans? Just carry on...not even a right on, but purely straight ahead.

Question on a different note, I think we signed a Kicker today from the US FL
Michael Gehlken

@GehlkenNFL

Cowboys have new favorite to be their Week 1 kicker: USFL standout Brandon Aubrey has been signed. Plano native and ex-pro soccer player made 14 of 15 FGs with Birmingham Stallions this seasons. Won league title with them the past two years. K Tristan Vizcaino also in camp mix.

Cowboys have two empty roster spots. Today’s conclusion of USFL season opens avenue from which to accrue talent. Last summer, USFL MVP KaVontae Turpin joined Dallas. Rate limit not exceeded: Team has again monitored league closely, including at kicker. Luis Aguilar among options.

Why flirt with turning over what currently is one of the very best rosters in the NFL?

Yeah,
If you think his on field performance has matched his second contract money that may indicate a similar over rating "our guys" and skewed market value problem that ownership seems to not get either with regards to writing second contracts.

But hey, Anthony Spencer almost got a lot of sacks too so there was already a precedence in place I guess, lol.
