Demarcus Lawrence finished playing his 9th year in the NFL, all as a Dallas Cowboy.

D-Law (age 30 at the time) played all 17 games (plus 2 playoff games) and finished 2022 with the single season highest tackling numbers in his career. 65 total tackles, 43 solo tackles, 11 stuffs (tackle for a loss of yards): all career single season highs. Plus, he still accumulated 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles (1 recovered) and 3 pass deflections. D-Law also played both postseason games for 2022, had 6 total tackles (4 solo), 2 assists, 1 sack and 2.5 stuffs (tackle for a loss). Not bad for a soon to be 10 year Defensive End/Tackle veteran who is now 31 years old (April).

D-Law certainly earned his paycheck in 2022. Looking forward to seeing how Demarcus Lawrence performs in 2023 with better weapons now around him.

And he is a Cowboy at heart. He talks the talk and walks the walk. A very good football player who is loyal to the team and fan base. Not the greatest Cowboy D-lineman but still a keeper. All in all to this point he deserves a lot of respect and admiration from the fan base which he seem to have for the most part.

...and he is a good leader keeping focus and helping those around him.

You guys can complain all you want about lack of respect. His position is judged by sacks and QB pressures and frankly that would help a a lot more than a run stop he occasionally gets. He is still overpaid.

You don't have a clue on the role of respect and where it applies. He is very dominant in run defense as well...as well, is his future replacement already in system?

That guy thinks sacks are everything... not even worth the reply.

By far, the best play by any player last year was Dlaw's stop at the goalline, taking on 3 blockers to tackle the ball carrier. Dude is a beast vs the run.

I know if I received criticism from fans who thought they knew something, I'd wipe my tears with crisp $20 bills.

In his second year he was playing in the 270s and was a force of nature. His legs couldn't handle that weight and he kept on getting dinged and injured. He now plays at 250 and is still quite good just not that combination of speed and power he was before.

It made sense to think he was overpaid. The level of vitriol over the overpay was gratuitous I felt. Then opinions didn't change much after he took a paycut.

The man is a true professional and contributor.

I'm sure some thought Quinn was the better DE even though his run defense was atrocious.

Some get the contract talks stuck in their heads and can never "let go". Saw it with Dez too but at least Law's play is still very good.

We are so focused on getting sacks that some fans may not follow Lawrence on running plays or even short passing plays.

Lawrence doesn't end his plays when the QB no longer has the ball, he tears it downfield after the ball carrier. From the time the ball is hiked to the time the whistle blows, he usually hustles.

That is why he is regarded as a leader by the team. It's just some of the things players always notice but some fans never seem to see.

Agreed. He's the typical do it all workhorse that gets undervalued by the fanbase, because his sack numbers don't jump off the page.
