apples and oranges. a DE could play with a broken hand, a qb could not. has nothing to do with toughness either

QB's don't take as much contact as a DE. For a DE to play through broken ribs is completely different then a QB doing it.

I didn't see where anyone said his ribs were broken.... actually sounded like it was a bruised chest.... a DE is in a rotation... he could play 10-20 snaps... Broken ribs is a different story though... Rothlisberger is playing with a broken hand this Sunday although he claims its not broken... pain medication does wonders these days... just ask Romo.

Look, I really hope the kid Lawrence turns out well for us eventually... its been a nightmare rookie year for him... I'm just a frustrated fan at this point, I guess.
A loss tonight makes the odds pretty tough against us the rest of the way... in the end, I'm just hoping for a positive outcome.

Geez, another China doll!?!

Your QB has played with so many injuries and you can't give us 20 snaps or so because your chest hurts!?!... *****.

Someone please forward this to DeMarcus for me.

I've heard playing defensive line is just like playing qb.

I doubt that you have any inside information on DL's injury, or his desire to play.

Judge ye not, lest ye be judged.

Dissapointing if he can't play. Not a deal breaker or anything. At least he's not out for a while (yet)

Lawrence playing or not playing is a small matter. Without a solid push from the interior none of the DEs will get to the QB on a regular basis.

Wow... tough day for me... a bible thumper and a kid that obviously loved The Lion King so much he to let everyone else know...

I have just as much inside info as the guy who claimed Lawrence had broken ribs..... I didn't judge anyone...no matter what position you play, you must have mental toughness...
I really didn't expect all the feedback..

This dude is going to be a bust. I wish we would have stood pat and drafted a player in the 2nd round that was just as good if not better than Lawrence and then also got a 3rd rounder. Our team was/is full of holes but we had to stupidly try to rush and feel the void that Ware left... even though Ware hadn't done squat for us the less few years he was here.

Lawrence will be OK. Looking forward to seeing what he does next year with an offseason under his belt.

Ease up man, it is possible to let someone disagree with you without personally attacking them in response like you have to everyone in this thread so far who addressed you. It's not that big a deal. We're all fans here.

I read it differently.... I don't think I said anything unprovoked... If so, I apologize... I'm going to order a D. Lawrence jersey because of this thread...:)

DL hasn't done much when he has played anyway, so you are correct in saying it doesn't matter if he plays or not.

I wasn't for the trade up in the draft to get him. And this is why...trading up in the draft doesn't account for the injury rate in the NFL. And typically if you trade to 'rely' on a player, it burns you in the end.

When it comes to the draft, I really believe that it rewards the more patient teams in the end.

This would be my belief. Something about putting all your eggs in one basket….

It absolutely does pay off to be patient. Especially when your team has needs all over the place. The trade up for DL was idiotic for our team and it was the exact type of move that keeps us mediocre year after year. You can't give up any of your top 3 picks when you have as many needs as our team did. That is the best place to find starters.

At the time I was hoping for a trade back, get another pick, take Lawrence in the first, and take a guard in the second or third. Of course Martin has been as advertised and more.

The 1st round was a perfect example of being patient paying off.

Mel Kiper opened the draft season with Manziel as the #1 overall pick. John McClain, the Texans beat writer said that the Texans were either going to take Clowney or Manziel (he did say he thought they would take Clowney in the end). The Cowboys were thought if they wanted Manziel, they *had to* trade up to get him. Instead, they were patient and Manziel fell to them anyway. And they ended up going with Martin, if he keeps up this pace, he's a Hall of Famer.

The more and more I look, the GM position may be the most overrated in all of football because you have to have the coaching to make things work. And where GM's tend to get notoriety is when they fail...which usually happens when they make big trade-ups or give big $$$ in free agency.

I think the coaching staff is in place to develop talent well. Limiting our pool of talent is foolish because of the injury rate being the only thing that can prevent the staff from developing talented players.

It's his rookie year, he'll get things worked out before next season. After his first injury I wasn't expecting much this season from him. It's difficult enough for a rookie to have an instant impact but its nearly impossible when you miss due to injury. Some fans already want to write him off, which is not surprising but still unnerving. Hopefully he can put in the work this off-season to fulfill his potential because boy does he have the tools. People are expecting Ware but those are some extremely high expectations. We all better hope he pans out for the sake of the defensive line.
