Somewhere, in the dark, dingy confines of the Oakland Raiders' "headquarters," Greg Ellis is about to let out a groan.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that the Cowboys and OLB DeMarcus Ware have agreed on a new six-year contract that includes $40 million guaranteed.
The deal reportedly maxes out $78 million ($13M annually). Ware is the game's premier pass-rushing 3-4 outside 'backer and led the NFL in sacks with 20 in 2008. The 27-year-old started this season slow, but has caught fire with four sacks in his last two games, and two forced fumbles in his last three. Oct. 26 - 2:50 pm et

Wow that's actually a lot lower than we expected. Kudos to all parties getting it done. Now Ware can just concentrate on destroying QB's

Cowboys expected to announce new deal for Ware

By Tom Orsborn on Oct 26, 09 01:30 PM | Permalink | Comments (0) Save & Share

IRVING - The Cowboys have scheduled a news conference for 4:30 today to discuss what spokesman Rich Dalrymple called "the signing of a player."

Presumably, that means the club will announce the much-anticipated long-term, lucrative deal for Pro Bowl OLB DeMarcus Ware.

The timing couldn't be better.

Ware had two of the Cowboys' four sacks Sunday on Matt Ryan and forced a fumble. The Troy alumn led the NFL with 20 sacks last season.

"He's at the top of the class, very special," coach Wade Phillips said. "But he's an all-around player. He can play the run well, too."

After a slow start this season, Ware has a team-high four sacks. And he's doing it with a stress fracture in his foot.

"D-Ware is D-Ware, man," DE Marcus Spears said. "He probably can play with one leg so it's not something that's anything that has to do with his ability. It's just having that mentality of having to overcome that and playing well. It just adds to his legend. His foot is bothering him obviously, but he's doing what he has to do to push through it and play as well as he can play and he'll be rewarded for it."

Wow! What a bargain for someone like this. It just proves Ware wants to be a Cowboy. How does this compare to Lil' Abner's deal in Washington? Wasn't his for 100 Mil?

1) It's not. 2) I doubt it.

HEY! How do you know? I might be able to kick through the internet or have a leg long enough to kick that far. You don't know. :p

good news. I bet Ware's injury has a lot to do with the timing of this deal getting done. I'm sure his agent, as he should, called up Jerry and said if you want him to play with a bum foot, let's get this done.

I'm not intending this to slam Ware-I don't blame him.

Wow, that seems like a pretty good deal for the Boys. I think that is less then haynesworth money. I think Haynesworth was 100M 45M guaranteed.

Snyder pays this kind of money for a part time DT, and we get the best LB in the league.

I like it.
