DeMarcus Ware just threw Romo under the bus!

Ware is being interviewed by Skip Bayless on that misconnect between Romo and Austin that would have iced the game for the Cowboys in the first meeting against the Giants.

Skip asks him who was more to blame. Ware balks answering the question.
Skip presses him, and Ware says, "If we're going to blame somebody, you've got to blame the person throwing the ball." (Exact quote).

Then after Skip says he gives Miles more of the blame, Ware says, "You got to give 50/50. You got to give some to the hamstring and some to the arm."

Somebody needs to teach Ware some tact. You just can't say stuff like that in public.

To be fair ... later in the interview Ware gives Romo an A this year for leadership and quarterback play. He also blames the defense for letting him down(and focuses on himself. "I would have rushed the passer a little bit better. If I could have stopped the run. ..." and reaffirms that he needs more help. It's a team, he says.

Ware gives himself a "B" for the season. He can rush the passer better on 3 and 7, he can cause more fumbles. That's what he's going to work on.

why not? people need to add water to their skin and make it thicker.

It's very common for receivers to cut off their routes once they get behind a corner. Obvious mistake by Romo -- why would he want to lead his receivers?

I don't have a big problem with his answer as he was probably just caught off guard and answered the question the way he believed it to be.

However, if would have been quick on his feet he should have said something like when your offense puts up 34 points and no turnovers, I think you have to look at the defense if you want to play the blame game.

Exactly. It's a non issue that's going to be blown out of proportion. The true is, you do blame Romo's arm and Austin's legs.

Obvious mistake by Romo? :laugh2:

Miles claims he lost it in the lights so he did not see it regardless if it was thrown out in front or under thrown.

Yep.

If you're going to say something like that, maybe you don't say it during Super Bowl week.

Not that it really matters anymore, but I believe a few scouts (couchscout, broaddus, etc) said that Romo threw it straight as the route was supposed to be run whereas Miles kept widening his route...that's why it seemed both ahead of him and to the left of him. Said due to the safety location and the route that Miles should have run straight.

Anyway, its silly to blame the season on one play.

I don't think it matter when he says something like this or not. Those who will make a big deal of it will do so regardless of when he says it

Miles said he lost it in the lights but I don't believe that. I think he didn't have that extra gear because of his hamstring issues or wasn't fully ready for that ball. Romo had to throw the ball early because of the blitz and I don't think Austin was prepared for the ball like he should have been. I put that play squarely on Miles... if anything he could have jumped for the ball. That game was too huge not to give 100% on that play.

Meh, I'm with Ware. Austin was wide open and the pass was off target.

It's not the first time a QB and WR have missed on a throw, so I don't see the issue with saying the pass should have been more accurate.

Austin cut off his route? When did that happen?

I think it was a combination of not Romo's best throw and Austin not seeing the ball to make a play on it. Even if Austin sees it I'm not sure he gets to it.

Having said that, what is interesting to me, is that it isn't "Romo bashing" fans who are saying this stuff. It is fellow players. And not scrubs either. One of the best players on the team.

Honestly, I don't know what to make of it. Is it just grown men being grown men and not cutting each other slack? Is there a measure of disrespect for Romo among some players?

I don't know how anyone could disrespect the guy this season. In my opinion, at every opportunity for a QB to show that he is leading Romo handled himself very well this season. He accepted blame when he should. He played hurt most of the season.

I even wonder if there is still a culture in that locker room that needs to be cleaned out. If so, I'm for cleaning it out no matter who the player is.

I saw the interview. This is yet again another fan trying to make something out of nothing.

My favorite quote from Ware was "If we're rushing the passer, it almost doesn't matter who's on the back end."

Exactly right. But hey, let's waste the 14th overall pick on a player who "almost doesn't matter" to our success.

You wonder if there still is a culture in the locker room that needs to be cleaned out? The answer to that question is a big YES. This team needs to be blown up on defense for sure.

Its not that serious. He was asked about a particular play and he told the honest truth. Its no big deal. Romo won't even take it as serious as some of you.

It happened right at that point where he stopped running.

Sarcasm.

Not every pass is going to be perfect. That's the nature of the game.

Whether or not the pass could have been better doesn't really matter. It wasn't yet it was still catchable.

I have total confidence in saying that Dez Bryant catches that ball because Dez Bryant would have laid out like Austin should have.

Austin cut off his route? When did that happen?

He drifted towards the sideline instead of going straight up field.
