DeMarcus Ware just threw Romo under the bus!

You claim to be aware of the situation, but you fail to acknowledge that to walk away with a win that game we needed not a touchdown, but a measly 6 yards. You know what great, chain-moving, possesion patch-casser who hadn't missed the previous 5 (or whatever it was) games was? Jason Witten.

Yes, in that instance it was open, but there is much more that goes into a pass other than a WR being open. The 1st read on that play had a much higher percentage of failure (AS WE ALL CAN ATTEST TO), than a 6 yard pass into Witten's chest in the middle of the field. He handled the situation poorly, just like many others, and surely many more to come.

Well, coaching doesn't tell the QB which read to throw to. Garrett doesn't call "throw it deep to Austin on three".

But what that playcall did was have our supposedly best WR wide open down field on a simple pitch and catch. You couldn't ask for a better situation than that. The players failed to make it happen. And it's as simple as that.

If Anthony Spencer would of said that people would be going nuts and calling for his head. But Since Ware gets a pass on everything around here it's a non issue.

oh get real and stop TRYING to make this an issue.

i don't care who said it - the throw was off. why is it a huge ordeal to notice and say "hey, that was off"?

oh - cause some fans need a good butt-hurt.

really not that long of a pass

Not for me. It would not matter to me which guy said it on defense.

I would just think Skip is asking the wrong people the wrong question. As part of the defense be it Ware or Spencer the question that needed to be asked is what happen to you in the loss vs NY. You were in a position to win and the defense caved giving up a 2 score lead late in the game. I think Ware or Spencer or any of the defensive players are in a better position about answering that than what happened on an offensive play

Now, gee. Just how many papers would that sell?

Depends on who your selling to. :laugh2:

I don't ask a shoe maker how to bake a cake. If you want a real answer to a real question ask those guys on offense about that or any other play.

If you want to talk with a defensive player why not ask him things he is part of and knows about like what happened? why could you not get any pressure on Manning?, how were they able to move the ball with ease down the field?

It's very common for receivers to cut off their routes once they get behind a corner. Obvious mistake by Romo -- why would he want to lead his receivers?
Total BS.

I suppose somebody needs to teach the kids to "cut off their route after they beat a defender" - what a silly concept. Good thing Holley is so inexperienced and didn't know enough to "cut off his route" or he would have looked as bad as Austin did. And we would have likely lost that game too.

You beat the guy, just cut the route off so that you lose your advantage, and the QB who throws the ball based on you coming open throes to where you "would" have, "should" have been.

As for Ware, he stated the truth when he said that the defense led to the losses. We should be focused on that obvious truth instead of rationalizing for the Austin / Romo disconnect. Maybe had Austin not missed half the season to injury, their timing and knowledge of one another would have been a bit better.

He didn't throw Romo under the bus at all. People need to actual watch the interview.

BEFORE they start these BS type threads, or after?

Are you kidding me? As much as the coaching on this team frustrates me, rarely do I whine about it. I state what I don't like, and discuss it with fans who might feel differently. How whiny of me.

You and your stupid little phrase which your clearly repeating after somebody used it to hurt your feelings just demonstrates that the points I make actually hit home with you.

Instead of attacking me and my binky (I sincerely hope you're under the age of 15), why don't you make a counter-argument about how the coaching staff has this team headed in the right direction, like an adult would do? That kind of thinking must not be your thing.

It happened right at that point where he stopped running.

He never stopped running, he just couldn't get to the ball. Whether he lost it or not, he was running the entire time and he was WIDE open.

Not every pass is going to be perfect. That's the nature of the game.

Whether or not the pass could have been better doesn't really matter. It wasn't yet it was still catchable.

I have total confidence in saying that Dez Bryant catches that ball because Dez Bryant would have laid out like Austin should have.

He drifted towards the sideline instead of going straight up field.

I know not every pass is perfect, I stated as much by saying I don't see why it would be a big deal to blame one or the other. In this case I think the pass could have been placed better, but it's an anticipation thing. It's not the last time Romo will miss a pass or Miles will miss a catch.

As far as drifiting, the ball is out of Romo's hands by the time Miles makes his inside move to get past his man and the ball lands right in front of him when he reaches out for it. If he hadn't "drifted" inside, the ball would have landed 10 yards to his right.

Edit: After watching it a few more times, the ball lands maybe a step or two to his left, so maybe that's where the lights come into play but the fact remains that the ball is released as soon as Miles makes his inside move and the ball still leads him further to the right.

well to be honest, i didn't come up with butthurt.

nothing really hit home. this has just been one negative season from hell and it gets hard to seperate valid conversation from whining anymore.

besides, no. i can't think at all. gimme a few headlines and i can tell you all about war and peace these days.

Man, there's never been a qb who had a 102 rating and 31TDs that has had a rougher off season than Romo. Weather the flack is real or made up. Good lord.

As I mentioned yesterday, people find things to rag on him. His hat, his girlfriend or his playing golf in the off season. Romo gets held to a different standard than I have seen with other QB and it mainly comes from our own fans.

I guess when I have to correct multiple people as to the sarcasm, it's on me.

oddly enough, i caught it the 1st time. :)

I have zero problem with DeMarcus Ware's statement. The problem is to whom the question was posed. Skip Bayless questioned a defensive player when the question should have been proposed to an offensive player--preferably to either a quarterback, Tony Romo or Stephen McGee, or a receiver or tight end such as Miles Austin himself or Jason Witten.

Anyway, the opinion of the underlying failure of that particular play will be debated for a long time. My opinion, which does not coincide with Ware's, is the same now as it was when the play actually took place. Romo threw the ball accurately and Austin did not increase his pace to catch the ball.

That sort of pass-and-throw is routine. Whether Austin is telling the truth about losing the ball in the lights or his legs failed him is irrelevant to me. The only thing of importance is that he should have caught the ball. He did not.

There are examples during the past season where Romo did not make the right pass. The Jets and Lions games (with the exception of the Laurent Robinson pass which ended in an interception against Detroit) come immediately to mind. With respect to Ware, there is not any reason to blame Romo for catchable passes which the wide receiver does not haul in.

This is why, as great as he is, I almost look forward to when he's on another team where he can be appreciated. Unfortunately, we won't find another QB that can produce at his level likely in the next decade.
