of course, because they get the benefits of hanging around everything Cowboys. Why would they burn those bridges for no reason?

Fans on message boards don’t get any benefits from Jerry.
I mean, if they're female, they could, but they'd have to fight the urge to vomit.

Parcells wanted Marcus Spears over Ware.

Jerry pulled rank on the Ware pick and the only reason that didn't start the rift between Jerry and Parcells earlier was that Parcells got to have Spears a few picks later, a pick they could've used on Aaron Rodgers.
Marcus Spears was a good prospect at the time, he just didn't turn into a pro-bowler in the NFL but had a serviceable career.

smart...he knows the party and pomp that comes with having Jerry do it....love him or hate him, Jerry does it right for celebrations.
It sounds like their relationship is a little stronger than just party and pomp

I’m surprised Ware picked Jerry, because he wasn’t happy when he was asked to take a pay cut and released after he refused.

I remember fans right here saying Ware never got meaningful sacks lol
Sometimes everyone is wrong
Parcels was certainly wrong about that but he was a great head coach
I remember fans/posters couldn't wait to run him out of town. Many went so far as predicting he would have trouble finding a team. Remember having several heated debates with a poster on the Ranch name Dr. Cowboy. The dude hated Ware with passion. Even after he signed with the Broncos ( rejecting several other teams ) this post still bashed him...........his behavior was odd, to say the least.

No player would be but he never took it personal. I don't recall him ever throwing Jerry or the Cowboys under the bus after his release. He was all class.......

He never publicly voiced any displeasure. I’m sure he wanted to remain in good standing with the organization. I believe some of this has to do with him wanting to be in the Cowboys ROH. A way to win over Jerry. The Cowboys ROH is the cream of the crop.

As a reminder.....

Quarterbacks at that time:

Drew Bledsoe (just signed as a FA $23M for 3 years)
Drew Henson (just going into year 3)
Tony Romo (just going into year 3)

I know they liked Romo. But for crying out loud. How in the heck do you pass on a franchise QB with the 2nd of your two first rounders with the 20th pick???

Spears said many times he was forced to play out of position by Parcell.

The Dallas Cowboys have released eight-year veteran Marcus Spears.

Given the Cowboys’ current salary cap situation, the move doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Some feel that Spears failed to live up to expectations as a former first-round selection in the 2005 NFL draft. Chosen as the second of two first-round selections that year by former head coach Bill Parcells, Spears was moved from his college position of defensive tackle at LSU to defensive end as Dallas made the official switch to the 3-4 alignment that same year.

You just pointed out why they passed on Aaron Rodgers. They traded a third round pick for Drew Henson a year earlier and they had just signed Drew Bledsoe to be their QB, plus they liked Romo‘s potential. You have to remember Rodgers fell a long way in the draft, and a lot of teams didn’t see him as a franchise QB. It wouldn’t have made a lot of sense for the Cowboys to draft Rodgers after just signing Bledsoe to a nice contract, and having two young developing QBs behind him. The Cowboys defense needed a lot of help which is why their two top picks were on defense. It’s easy to look back now and say what a mistake passing on Rodgers was, but no one was saying it was a mistake then. If anyone made a mistake it was San Francisco who took Alex Smith instead of Rodgers. Miami, Cleveland, and Chicago who followed San Francisco made a mistake passing on Aaron Rodgers. Washington passed on him and is still looking for a QB.

Serious question.........show me an NFL owner who appears to have passionate and personal relationships with more NFL players and athletes ( especially his own and African Americans) than Jerry. What's interesting is most of the same players/athletes can't stand Stephen.....lol.

I have often said, some people are born with a certain charisma/charm that draws people to them.....it's a gift.
