What was stupid was making contact with a ref and costing your team.

It was a horrible non-call but stokely cost himself any moral authority to argue the call after contacting the ref. If you touch a ref you are an idiot. Period. The focus went immediately to the ref contact rather than the bad call and it shouldn't have. If you give a crappy ref a chance to bail himself out, he'll take it.

Players contact the refs all the time, but it's usually when they're joking around or something like that. The ref just didn't like being called on doing a poor job.

The ejection is not with the spirit of the rule, and the refs are a joke. It was OBVIOUSLY accidental, and extremely minimal. If the refs know it was accidental, and there was no malicious intent, and especially if it's that minimal, then there shouldn't be an ejection.

If the refs don't want to be touched, they should step away from the players before they start waving their hands or pointing. The refs point did more to close the distance between himself and Stokely, than what Stokely did.

No way. They beat us good at that point in their season. They were legit.
I think their defense is just too small to hold up over 17 weeks. They're playing nothing like the way they started the season.
If I remember correctly 7 of their points came off of a turnover inside the Cowboys 20. Other than that they didn't really do anything. Also Romo was missing wide open guys. He wasn't playing as well at the beginning of the season as he is now.

Maybe it wasn't the contact so much as what he might have said to the refs.

Spirit of the rule says players can't contact refs. A finger thing might not have a been an issue if he hadn't something "salty" to go with it.

I agree. Besides, watching the replay I fully believe he did it on purpose. I think he was pissed and couldn't help himself with that little whack to the refs hand as he was turning away. I think the ref believed he did it on purpose as well. And like you say when you're yelling profanities and make contact, you're just asking for it. There is never an excuse to touch a ref though, imo, ever.

Wow. What a BS call that Philly got. That was nowhere near pass interference.

And Phil Simms is blind.

Stokely wasn't joking.

The rule is perfectly fine the way it is. Bad calls happen all the time. Deal with it.

There should be no grey area. Minimal or not, you don't touch a ref. Stokely got what he deserved.

Champ grabs Cowboys receivers like crazy and never gets called. He just gets in DeSean's way without contact on an underthrown pass and gets called. I hate refs.

I think the refs are on the Philly payroll.

These two calls show me the lack of integrity of NFL reffing. But, the head referee has always been horrible.

Next time they should just give Philly the TD as soon as they get the ball.

That's PI. Bailey made no attempt to play the ball and made contact.

Then players need to be kicked out each and every game.

Did Bailey play the ball?

Did he make contact?

No he didn't on both until after the ball hit.

And that's not a sufficient condition for PI.

Then why don't you get mad at the lack of consistency on the part of NFL refs rather than trying to justify the contact with the ref?

He made contact as Jackson went back for the ball.

Was it a lot? No. But if you make no attempt to play the ball, you get flagged.
