Here is a list of teams that have been in the NFC Championship game since the last time we were:

West: San Francisco(4), St.Louis(2), Arizona, Seattle(2)
South: Carolina(3), New Orleans(2), Tampa Bay(2), Atlanta(3)
North: Green Bay(4), Minnesota(3), Chicago(2),
East: New York(3), Philadelphia(5),

Dallas, Detroit, and Washington are the only teams not to appear in the NFC Championship since 1996.
That's 18 years with 36 spots available and we haven't been there ONE TIME....

In the AFC:

West: Denver(4), Oakland(2),San Diego
South: Indianapolis(3), Tennessee(2), Jacksonville(2)
East: New England(9), New York(3),
North: Pittsburgh(6), Baltimore(4),

Kansas City, Miami, Buffalo, Houston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, are the teams that have not made it to the conference championship game....

I'm not even going to look at the Super Bowl champs because I've already tortured myself enough, but as you can see this list is VERY UGLY, and should be inexcusable for the Dallas Cowboys. When you think fans that are under the age of 19 have to compare their favorite team with the likes of Detroit, Cleveland, or Cincinnati it is a brutal shame. When the fans of "AMERICA'S TEAM" can't say we have been better than Oakland, Arizona, Jacksonville, or Tampa Bay in almost 20 years, it should be a crime and is beyond embarrassing.

You can blame every player to ever wear the star. You can say the talent hasn't been good enough, or the injuries have killed us. You can blame every coach from Jason Garret to Dave Campo, and every OC and DC in between. However, after looking at these facts; there is NOTHING you could ever say that could defend our owner and GM, Jerry Jones. He has degraded the STAR and this franchise more than anything or anyone ever could!!!

I read last week where someone said that the Cowboys were bigger than Jerry Jones. That might be true, but that is impossible to see right now, and will be until the day he is out of the picture.

You are just being negative! Garrett has a 13 year plan so we will see who is laughing in 2024? (At least those of us that are still alive).

The Patriots are still one of 32 teams --

I dunno, I view it as the Patriots just got busted doing what a lot of other teams, including the Cowboys, have been doing for years.

Where they got stupid is they were sternly warned and ignored it -- and the NFL came down hard on them.

Yes, but the one variable is their margin of victory in each SB. 3 pts every time.
Cheating could have and probably was the difference.

That is not a stretch,,,, by any "stretch" lol

I think their QB is pretty good too.

Bill Belichick before Tom Brady:
* 41-56 record in 6 years as HC without Brady
* 1 playoff victory in 6 years.

Bill Belichick after Tom Brady became starter:
* 158-50 record in 13 years
* 18 playoff victories in 13 years
* 3 Superbowls

So unless Belichick sold his soul to devil at crossroad and instantly became this great HC, it appear Tom Brady took a marginal HC and made him great.

Very true but... Bill is a real football guy so he compliments Brady and vice versa.

honestly, I don't know. We know he was good DC before brady but there is very little evidence of him being good HC before Brady. We will have to wait for Brady to retire before we can see him operate without eye popping clutch QB.

We're kind of a joke at the moment.

You can say that there are plenty of other teams that are worse than us, but none of those teams get nearly as much attention as we do.

So, a joke is what we are until something changes and it appears nothing is going to change.

They were knocking on the door of the playoffs even with Matt Cassel as QB in 2008. They went 11-5 and missed out, but hey, 11-5.

The difference is there BB makes game plans and schemes to his player's strengths...which is the exact opposite of what Red does.

Exhibit A
A BB coached team QBd by Brady just won a playoff game with 0 TD passes and SIX rushing touchdowns.

Exactly right. The great Bill Belichick was a loser until Tom Brady arrived.

Now I don't think I'd call him a marginal HC. I think he's learned on the job and become a very good HC but until he does something without one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game on his roster I would never consider him one of the all time great coaches like most others do.

Bill Parcells career has impressed me much more than what little Bill has done.

ohh how nice to have qb like brady and a coach like bill and a gm that is football smart if garrett don't figure it out quick this team will be drafting in the top five of the draft next year. 2014 will be awful season not looking forward to it at all.

The other point is that Belichick had a ton to do with Tom Brady's development. Anyone think if Brady had wound up on one of Dave Campo's teams he'd have turned out to be the same player?

Wanna know how many teams havent been a superbowl champ since 1996? 20. At the end of the yr thats all that matters. Winning the superbowl.

9 AFC Championship games for the Patriots (8 I believe with BB as HC). Incredible.

Heck, this one this year is maybe the most impressive.

When Danny Amendola and J. Edelman are your #1WR and #2WR and your team still gets to the playoff on the heals of NFL cast-offs and rejects like LaGarrette Blount, Aquib Talib, and Rob Ninkovich lead the way, you know the coach is great.

He does get the most out of his athletes but don't exclude the GM. The owner as well. Great front office.

Football is football and it seeps from every pore of that organization.

No smug-faced lunatic trying to 'out-do' the rest of the NFL world.

True enough. But there's something to be said about having a chance to get there.

That used to be the criteria around here but the Cowboys are so mediocre , it seems to be winning the NFC East is all that matters.

What does getting there get you? Nothing. Just look at the following seasons of teams who didnt win the superbowl. Giants twice, Cardinals, GB, Pitt were all bad the following yr. Thats the thing about playing the games. You just never know. Maybe Jerry has made bad choices. But every owner makes them. All i know is since 2006 Dallas has had some very capable teams that couldve been a team in contention. Thats why i cant blame Jerry for this teams failures. He's given his coaches his players teams. Wether people want to admit it or not. And 2 yrs 2007 and 2009 thats this team shouldve been in the superbowl.
