Most of the mock drafts I have seen say Derrick Henry is a borderline 1st round draft pick. Why?I watch a ton of college ball and this kid is an absolute beast imo.I would love to see mr.Henry running behind our o-line.

Maaaan I'm CURRENTLY looking for articles on this guy because I'm very intrigued. The combination of speed size and power is insane and I think he's gonna do some damage in the league.
I can't see us grabbing him in the top 5 but if he somehow slipped to the 2nd I'd be all over that.
Why isn't there more talk about him though? I hope it's not solely because of the whole Alabama RBs thing.

Three words, Ingram, Lacy, and Richardson. That's why I wouldn't take an Ala RB. If you want value look at guys from FSU, Freeman, Karlos Williams, and in 2017 Cook who was easily the best RB in college this season. I believe that some college programs have positions and players that translate better to the nfl because of their system.

You don't have to sell me on the idea of drafting Henry .I am all aboard that bandwagon.

I wouldn't hate it if he was the pick in the 2nd, but I do worry about Alabama RBs. They always look like world beaters in college. Sure-fire playmakers. The next big thing at RB. And, they never are. Their success for some reason does not translate to the NFL.

That being said, his size, speed, and power do intrigue me.

In all fairness, Henry isn't built like them. Mark Ingram is 5'10, Trent Richardson is 5'9 and Eddie Lacy is 5'11. The first two, really or too short to play at their weight at an effective level. Lacy has had some success, but staying committed to keeping himself in shape seems to be his problem. But Derrick Henry is listed at 6'3, which means he likely comes in at least at 6'1 and maybe 6'2, meaning his listed weight of 245, isn't as bad. I'd still like to see him at 230 or so, but at 6'2, he can pull it off better than the other 3 Alabama RBs.

Trent Richardson really makes the group look bad, but I'd say Ingram was not as good as expected, while Lacy was better than expected.

Id say the first rounders have been sub par, but the 2nd rounders Lacy and Yeldon have been solid.

Richardson IMO is the only total failure

As a group they aren't comparable to say Spurriers UF WR's

I think he's a little overrated personally, as most RB's in Bama's system are, and his game doesn't translate as well to the next level as an Ezekiel Elliott. Wouldn't take him in the first 2 rounds tbh.

That's your opinion and I respect that and you may even be correct with the history of Alabama RBs in the NFL outside of Shaun Alexander have had average to above average careers there's a 50/50 chance that Henry may be another Alexander, or another Richardson as for his skill set he fits perfectly with this ZBS that Dallas likes to run he is that one cut runner Murray was during his tenure here but that doesn't mean that Dallas will draft him the combine is going to really tell us where he might go in the draft as well as every combine invite.

I'll wait on judgement til after the combine. If Henry runs a 4.6 he'll drop.. Plus he has a lot of mileage on those tires. Saban ran him into the ground this year..

Henry was as impressive as any HS RB I've ever seen. It took a but but he got to that same level at a collegiate.

As to value.., late r1 is right to me. Zeke is probably a bigger risk with his attitude and off-field stuff.

Very few guys 240+ have been successful in the NFL as backs. There is a point where you are simply too big. And 240+ now often translates to 260 as a pro.

I generally believe the prototype back is 5'10"-6' and 215-230. Elliot is 6' 225, which is why he ranks higher to scouts IMHO.

The heaviest runner drafted last year was Matt Jones at 231.

IF I were in charge of Henry's draft prep. I'd have him lose down to 235 or so. Try to boost his speed and get him in the frame of the prototype.

I'm just not sure he can be successful in the NFL with his size. Alabama ran him hard this year. I prefer RBs that are a bit shorter and lighter. Give me a 5'11 220lb guy that can get low to the ground and keep his legs churning.

I'd want to see him at least lose a little weight and get a little more wiggle. He seems to have decent vision, but also doesn't seem to get much in terms of yards after contact. When I watch him, I can't help but to think on a lot of his plays "That wouldn't have happened against an NFL defense".
