DE's at 28 at 60: How do you react to this scenario

BPA. This scenario you are taking Willis because he js your highest rated player
So round 1/2 could be CB/CB?

My answer is Yes to a true BPA. That means that player is a tier above the other available players.

The Cowboys do something like:
R1-1
R1-2
R1-3
R2
R3
.
.
.
They might have tiers in R2 also, I don't remember. I think some teams have 2 tiers in R2. At some point it's just by round, but it's definitely tiers in R1.

In your scenario at #60, Willis would be their only R2 player remaining and everybody else is R3. If they have more R2 players remaining, then a different position is likely the pick. If they use tiers in R2, then that would come into play; although, the top half of R2 players on their board would likely be gone by #60.

Ciscowski once explained their tier system. I guess it could have changed with McClay but I doubt it. Side note: Ciscowski was not a people person based on his interviews. It seemed fairly obvious why he and the coaches were not on the same page that year of the Fred draft.

We went 13-3 with the DL we mostly have today, while we lost three starters and 1 backup in the secondary. We run a platoon system on the DL. Though I'm intrigued with Willis, we don't need two DEs in the first two rounds. Barnett would be enough. Take an athletic developmental RDE later on. The first two picks need to be starters for me.

The exception I could make -- I've heard/read some scouting folks who think Barnett might ultimately be best as an under tackle. If that was Dallas' plan, I defer to Marinelli.

Cut Moore. Crawford is more a DT where we are only 3 deep if he is at DE.

If you keep 10 DL

Collins
Paea
Thornton
Crawford
Lawrence
Irving
Tapper
Mayowa
Draft pick
Draft pick

Cross the bridge with Gregory when you get there. Im not holding a spot for a guy that is going to miss almost all of the season

You'd like to keep 9, but 10 is very doing. Crawford probably allows you 3 DT's
What if Moore shows promise? Then who gets cut

I also forgot Tapper.
Tapper should be irrelevant to the discussion.

I still don't understand why he would be viewed as an "extra draft choice". People assume he is more than what he was, which was a fourth round pick in an average DL draft.

I don't view him as an extra draft choice.
I'd just listed our current DEs for someone and had left him out.

Was speaking more in general. The terminology specifically.

When did Willis get injured or start smoking dope?

Say Dallas takes Barnett at 28

Pick 60 is up, Jordan Willis is still there and Dallas snatches him up

How do you react to this scenario
Jump up and down for joy. Serious competition for snaps.
Lawrence
Crawford
Irving
Mayowa
Gregory--susp
Kick Crawford inside.

DLaw
Irving
Mayowa
Barnett
Willis

Count Irving as a DT if necessary.

Tapper?
Gregory (or should I even mention him..lol)?

If they are the best two players at their slots by a large margin...so be it.

I have a feeling though that there will be a DB at both of those spots that they rate about the same so they will take a DE and a DB instead of back to back of one position. IF they do take back to back of the same it will be DBs but in the form of a CB and a Safety.

love barnett, so any scenario (without trading up) where he is the pick works for me...and, the DBs can be picked after these two picks...with more pressure on the QB, the less "studly" the DB's need to be...much like OJ Howard, I don't see Barnett being around for our pick

Barnett at 28 is a pipe dream.

If 2 DE's are the BPA at 28 & 60 then you take them.

But most likely it will be secondary help because we know those players are better players than DE's.
