DE's Dallas prefers

I haven't got to look at a lot of DE's yet, checked out a couple late rounders and a few that are on the bubble of being a first or second day draft pick.

The guys I checked out were Demarcus Walker and Smoot. Walker looked okay, not sure what system he fits in though. Smoot looked downright awful in the games I watched him in, especially against Michigan. Consistently got beat.

look into Takkarist McKinley out of UCLA and Harold Landry out of Boston College.

Will do.

Deatrich Wise Jr. is someone I liked when looking at some games he played in. Though, he may end up being a poor man's Jason Pierre Paul and only ever be stout against the run. Also watched some of Tanoh Kpassagnon when I read scouts are getting excited about him, looks disruptive but may fit better in the 3-4.

I like Wise Jr as a 3rd round pick if we miss out on the blazing edge rushers in the 1st 2 rounds. I also like Hunter Dimick out of Utah in the 3rd as our future Strong side defensive end. He was very disruptive in both the pass and rush this year.

I dreamt we drafted Taco. Hopefully he's not a Charlatan... har

Carroll Phillips, Dawuane Smoot named to final Ted Hendricks Award Watch List

Illinois football’s came to an end on Saturday, but the program may be in the news for a few more weeks thanks to the efforts of seniors Carroll Phillips and Dawuane Smoot. The fearsome pass-rushers were both named to the Ted Hendricks Award’s final watch list on Monday, making them two of just 27 players nationwide still under consideration.

Phillips became one of seven Illini players in history to record 20.0 or more tackles for loss in a single season when he had 3.0 in the final game at Northwestern to get to 20.0. Smoot finished with 15.0 TFLs to rank sixth in the Big Ten and end his career tied for sixth in Illinois history with 38.5 TFLs.

Phillips is ranked second in the nation in solo TFLs (19), seventh in TFLs per game (1.7) and 12th in solo sacks (9). Smoot was third in the Big Ten in TFLs per conference game with 13.0.

Found out about Carroll Phillips about a week ago. Walter football says that he is getting some comparisons to Leonard Floyd. If true then I'm hoping some 3-4 team falls in love with him and takes in the 1st over one the other pass rushers.

idk but the crawford at DE experiment sucks. A qb makes a simple move and crawford stumbles all over himself and miss out on a sack.

I know I'm biased but I like the Illini guys. Phillips is a Whitney Mercilus type player. He has been pretty good for the Texans. Smoot was a great player for the Illini the last couple years. We were horrible on the D side of the ball this year but we will miss those two big time!

DE Kyle Kelley, San Diego State 6 -3

Kelley played in all 14 games last season, moving into the starting lineup the final two games against Air Force and Cincinnati. He had a Hawaii-Bowl-record 3 1/2 sacks against the Bearcats, the most sacks by any player during the bowl season and tied for the third most in a game in school history. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound senior totaled a team-leading eight quarterback hurries last season and was second on the team with 7 1/2 sacks. Kelley

Harold Landry is the 1st that comes to mind. Can play either DE or 3-4 OLB which is something i would take advantage of. DE for base downs. Stand him up and use to blitz on 3 and long. Best part is we may have a chance at him with all the edge rushers making a name for themselves. one or 2 of them have to drop or at least an absolute stud LB or DB will drop.

Yes, he does have that power and quick twitch with speed.

If you're looking for a wiry 3-4 OLB/DE tweener, a great one is already on the roster. Jaylon Smith has plenty of experience rushing the passer and has the athleticism to play just about anywhere.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned. I'm late to the party and TL;DR
