IMO the fact he made it public is the issue. He just joined the team and is already jawing about changes that need to be made for him. This would not have been an issue if it were kept out of the media.

On a scale of 1-10 this would be a 3. But what is has done is set presedence. Any whining going forward will catch more attention then it should.

3 is low.

RGIII already has bs from new acquisition.
It's in the media... It won't be last time DJ will have bs in the media.

This will be fun watching the Commanders get "TO'd" ... And why not. It happened to eagles, cowboys and now Commanders. Only team left is giants. Lol

I only say 3 because it was squashed so quickly. The Skins players and management probably had to circle the wagons a bit and agree (read sacrifice) Cousins would give up his number.

Not that this is a huge deal, anyway, but that article hardly makes the drama seem manufactured. Pretty obviously, there was some internal discussion regarding something as silly as who wears what number.

Like the Jackson signing for you guys though. Or, more correctly as a Cowboys fan, I hate it.

I just re-read the article, and I don't see it at all. The others in this thread want to make a bigger deal than it is--but hey--it's their message board.

Anyway--this move is such a huge risk. It could blow up in our faces (like so many other moves have) or it could lead to an incredible offense. (Depending on your thought in this thread--he is saying the right things: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/DeSean-Jackson-humbled-embraces-fresh-start-with-Commanders.html)

Jackson clearing the safties for YAC-machine Garcon and Reed underneath is a frightening thought...plus the space he creates for Morris. But then again, that's all on paper. We'll shall see.

You're drunk on the excitement from the signing. :)

Honestly, I don't want to overstate this particular story. I think it's a bigger deal than it should have been, but I also think it doesn't mean anything in particular in the long-haul. Jackson is going to be pulling crap like this the entire time he's in WAS. It's just his personality. He can also help you put tremendous pressure on defenses and free up your other players significantly. He's a really good offensive piece to have on the field in that regard.

I hate players with his personality more than most, honestly, and I was strongly considering him as an option for Dallas if that means anything. Apart from the catches and yards he gives you, he stretches underneath coverage a good 10 extra yards on a long-developing route. That's a ton of extra ground to cover. It backs up Ss pre-snap and effectively takes coverage linebackers out of the equation. He's a real weapon.

But he's also an ***, so I'm going to enjoy that whenever it crops up since we'll have to put up with him on the field for the next however many years, anyway.

I think we're pretty much in agreement. I said a couple of years ago on this site, when he first started making trouble in his neighborhood: He's an ***, a complete ***--but he's the type of *** I'd take in a heartbeat. His talent changes games. I think Kelly is going to regret letting him go. He's relying on a receiver who clearly benefited from Jackson on the other side of him in Riley Cooper and a receiver coming off major knee surgery in Maclin. Neither have ever had a 1000 yard season. Jackson had 42 more targets than Cooper. That's some serious production number that need to be replaced. I would love for the Eagles to fall apart next year.

The media asked the question. It seems a reasonable question. They both wear 10, and have worn 10 for a long time. His answer was no decision was made. I imagine he and Griffin talked about it in LA, and maybe the had thought about the 3 and 10 resolution. Then the fans got worried about their 10 Griffin jerseys (although Sean Taylor had 36 and 21, so Skins fans know about changing jersey numbers), and they found out they would have to buy back all the Griffin 10 jerseys out there on the market, and Jackson said Holy C*** dude you have a lot of jerseys to buy back.

End of drama.

The funnier tweet was Aldrick Robinson basically being told he was changing numbers. His tweet was something like, guess I'll swagging #15 this season. Probably on a different team AR, probably on a different team.

McCoy opened up the Eagles offense for everyone, not Jackson. Their center tweeted, and then this was confirmed by some beat writers, that the Eagles faced a ton of 8 man fronts and that created the space for the WRs. Skins fans want people to think Jackson was the engine that drove the Eagles offense. That's false........ McCoy did.

I believe you are being dishonest twice in your post.

1. You see it. I believe you do.
2. You don't feel this is a risk. Not really. Maybe not at all.You are going to hit the ceiling when DJ scores his first TD against us. You are salivating.

And there are those that believe 9/11 was an inside job. And there are still others that believe the moon landing was on a sound stage in Burbank. Lot's of people believe lots of stuff--you're free to believe whatever you want. Great country, ain't it?

Not the same thing.
Shame on you!

Desean has said what he said, said it was discussed, pending an outcome, RGIII had to go on record - fact!

Yeah? And?

Like I said--I believe it's not a big deal. You do. I guess we'll see what happens. (When he mentioned the numbers originally, he was chuckling. Clealy he was pissed about it...but, like I said, believe what you like.)

Yes, this was a huge huge problem...just huge. But you know what this means, don't you?

It means the Commanders were able to squash a huge problem by DeSean Jackson within 24 hours, and get him to buy into their way of thinking.

So that's a good sign, right? Can't have one without the other.

Apparently the mighty Chip Kelly wouldn't have been able to handle such a locker room-dividing issue. But not only did Gruden handle it, he got Jackson to take his new jersey number and shut up about it.

So, in keeping in the spirit of the thread and exaggerating even the smallest aspects of Jackson's time as a Commander, it appears that the Skins' leadership does indeed know how to handle a diva like Jackson, and deal with him quickly.

And here I was, thinking this was a non-issue so there was nothing FOR the Commanders to deal with...thank the lord I came to CZ and was shown just how impressive the Skins' coaching staff was able to lock down Jackson and get him in line. Thanks, guys *thumbsup*...

Cousins wore #12, Jackson is going to wear #11.

So McCoy was the reason why safeties were routinely lining up deeper than normal? Yes, there were times defenses would stack the box when McCoy was going off. But defenses don't play the same alignment all game long, they both had to be gameplanned against.

But keep believing whatever makes you feel good.

And there are a myriad of fools living in the Beltway region that sincerely believe that the Foreskins have some kind of history and tradition to be proud of too.

Now this is getting fishy. Whenever a writer has to backtrack and defend his position like this, it always makes me question the article in the 1st place--especially the part about the Eagles not being the source of the information--despite the fact that he stated several times that "The Eagles are concered with..." So, two things are possible: 1. He's backtracking to cover his ***, b/c now the NFLPA is investigating the Eagles, or 2. He fabricated the story based off loose facts and assumptions.

As for the CBS Philly article that came out listing all of Jackson's faults, and the points about how many meetings Jackson actually missed; it's interesting--we heard none of this during Jackson's career year. What's even more interesting is the number of times Chip Kelly suspended, fined, or otherwise disciplined Jackson (the answer is 0). It's all coming out now. Why?

Finally, Jackson has said nothing negative about the Eagles or Chip Kelly. He's only said he's looking forward to moving on with the Commanders, and how they welcomed him with open arms. Now, I am not saying Jackson is a model citizen and does not bring any issues to the table--I've said it before and I've said it again, Jackson is a complete ***. He is not blameless. I don't doubt he made waves. (And I am sure the groundlings around here will let me know how wrong I am, using "creative" variations of nicknames like Deadskins and Foreskins. Unless they make some kind of thoughtful, valid point, they will be ignored.) However, the lack of specifics in the CBS article and backtracking in the NJ.com article really raises some questions.

Maybe the change of scenery makes Jackson grow up--it's happened before. Maybe he continues to be a jackass. He does not need to be a model citizen to be a productive player--just not another Terrell Owens type in the locker room. We'll see what happens as more will be revealed...
