Now this is getting fishy. Whenever a writer has to backtrack and defend his position like this, it always makes me question the article in the 1st place--especially the part about the Eagles not being the source of the information--despite the fact that he stated several times that "The Eagles are concered with..." So, two things are possible: 1. He's backtracking to cover his ***, b/c now the NFLPA is investigating the Eagles, or 2. He fabricated the story based off loose facts and assumptions.

As for the CBS Philly article that came out listing all of Jackson's faults, and the points about how many meetings Jackson actually missed; it's interesting--we heard none of this during Jackson's career year. What's even more interesting is the number of times Chip Kelly suspended, fined, or otherwise disciplined Jackson (the answer is 0). It's all coming out now. Why?

Finally, Jackson has said nothing negative about the Eagles or Chip Kelly. He's only said he's looking forward to moving on with the Commanders, and how they welcomed him with open arms. Now, I am not saying Jackson is a model citizen and does not bring any issues to the table--I've said it before and I've said it again, Jackson is a complete ***. He is not blameless. I don't doubt he made waves. (And I am sure the groundlings around here will let me know how wrong I am, using "creative" variations of nicknames like Deadskins and Foreskins. Unless they make some kind of thoughtful, valid point, they will be ignored.) However, the lack of specifics in the CBS article and backtracking in the NJ.com article really raises some questions.

Maybe the change of scenery makes Jackson grow up--it's happened before. Maybe he continues to be a jackass. He does not need to be a model citizen to be a productive player--just not another Terrell Owens type in the locker room. We'll see what happens as more will be revealed...

Yeah, I just posted the link because if was related to the signing, but I'm not vouching for any of the content. It's mostly an unsourced hatchet piece.

It will be very interesting to see what the NFLPA uncovers. After all the crap we went through last year--I view all "anonymous sources" and "sources within the team" with just a smidgen of skepticism.

We get bit by that stuff as much as you do. I can't stand the unnamed sources stuff, regarding any team It's too easy to abuse it, and I have no faith in the media's ability to regulate itself when it comes to vetting an anonymous source.

Shouldn't the title of the thread be:

DeSean already creating "drama" with the Skins. Wants to wear #10

Much ado about nothing. I am sure real drama will ensue soon enough but this? I do not think so.

So McCoy was the reason why safeties were routinely lining up deeper than normal? Yes, there were times defenses would stack the box when McCoy was going off. But defenses don't play the same alignment all game long, they both had to be gameplanned against.

But keep believing whatever makes you feel good.

The safeties weren't lined up deeper. That's 100% false and has been confirmed by some Eagles beat writers. The Eagles faced a ton of 8 man fronts last year.

So keep believing whatever BS you want to believe about how great Jackson is. The engine that made the Eagles offense run was more McCoy than Jackson.

You would have thought your newest star would have at least made an appearance at the first OTA to get to know his new teammates.

Whoops.

I wouldn't hold my breath on the NFLPA finding anything. Demaurice Smith is just putting on a dog and pony show.

Oh, yeah, about that:

So what? You'd think after getting smashed in the media for being a piss ant who is a problem child, you'd think he would show up at his first OTA with a new team.

It's LOL worthy that Skins fans, after years of trashing Jackson, now suddenly think he's the man. Hahahaha.

And here is what was said about the idea that Jackson was the engine that made the Eagles O work and that teams always had their two safeties way deep....... From Eagles beat writer, Sheil Kapadia.

Interesting Tweet from Jason Kelce about the run game:

@eagles_rule we saw 8 man boxes all last season... Almost every team played us one high safety and man coverage...
— Jason Kelce (@Jkelce)
March 30, 2014

I agree with Kelce here. Granted, even when teams played with one high safety, that guy had to be deep because of Jackson's speed. But most defenses prioritized stopping McCoy and the run game last year when facing the Eagles. With Jackson out of the picture, that's not going to change in 2014. Kelly will have to continue to come up with creative ways to get McCoy going, but he did that effectively last season.

With as sensational the sports media has become--it's really become an Around the Horn world now. I don't know if you've ever watched that show--but it's terrible. It's who can say the most outrageous thing, the loudest. With few exceptions, that's media nowadays.

******** did a great job on this last year with Jaws proclaiming Kaepernick as "could be the greatest QB ever!" (I'd post the link, but is has some NSFW language in it and don't want to run afoul with the law here--if you google "******** colin kapernick" it's the 3rd one down.)

This will be my last post to you, because you clearly cannot think objectively:

1. Voluntary workouts are exactly that--voluntary.
2. The Commanders knew of this BEFORE signing.

This is only an issue in your mind. Have a good one.

I can think objectively. Of course voluntary workouts are just that......... voluntary. But many times, team leaders make it a priority to go to them because they view them as having value. And yes, Jackson may have had an excuse, but when you are a guy trying to combat an image of being a problem child, I'd think you'd then make it a priority to show up at least for the first one. It's a great way to start combating this persona you apparently have and immediately makes an impression on teammates. He passed on that opportunity to apparently go out of the country on a vacation.

The reality is that people who aren't being objective here are Commanders fans who after years of trashing him, calling him a clown, etc........... well now, it's all good.

More false drama to make you feel good? He told Bruce Allen during negotiations he'd made vacation plans prior to being released since the Eagles weren't going to OTAs until a week later. The team understood and no one is making a big deal out of it....except inconsequential people like you.

Why exactly would he cancel a vacation, in which his new team has no problem with, in order to appease people in the media who won't think any better of him for doing so?

At least 2 false premises -
1 - Jackson never has been, never will be considered a "team leader". You want to bash a "team leader" bash DHall for missing this week. But the team said ok to him missing it too, taking his kids to Disneyworld.

2 - Jackson has never cared about his "image" problem. The Skins had lots of teammates giving him love in order to get him to sign. He wants to feel needed and belonging, and he and the current Skins leaders (Griffin, Williams, Garcon, and Hall) all came out immediately, in Griffin and Williams cases before he even was signed.

a third one, probably, is Skins fans trashing Jackson. If anything he managed to kill us and the Giants at the worst moments, so I think we as Skins fans are hoping that he will do the same to Philly for a while.

funny thing is if he's asking for a new contract that generally means that he's outperformed what he was already getting paid It would be frustrating if he did start crying but I would be enjoying the performance. And when has a player ever complained snyder wasn't paying them enough?

He could have 100 tds by game 10... You don't ask for new deal.

Sucks for you fans. You got your very own TO drama. Enjoy!

This whole jersey # thing is dumb. This was never an issue and it's shameful that anyone actually thought it was. That stuff would have come up during his contract negotiations and if it was going to be an actual problem it would have been taken care of then. I can't believe there is anyone here who actually thought he was trying to cause crap over a freaking jersey #.

Beyond that I don't care where Jackson plays. He's a great athlete but he's never scared me as a player. He's too small and can easily be physically taken out of games. I don't even remember the last time he blew up on the Cowboys. It had to be a couple of years at least.

I find Garcon to be way more of a headache then Jackson.
