It was intentional, in my opinion. A power play. Remind everyone who’s in charge.

I agree it is intentional but not to sabotage his team. The man is not a good GM but he thinks he is one of the best in the history. It is hard to believe or accept but it is his how his mind works.

Plus, he will not hold himself accountable for the roster and coaching he assembled. He gets his cake and eats it too. The team's problems are everyone's responsibility except his.
