Retiring numbers is stupid ......... it has not lessened any of the 88's or 54's or 21's or 33's when they give it out.

You remember the great players ....... not their freakin numbers.
Exactly! I understand the desire to honor great players but there are better ways to do that,,, *cough* Ring of Honor *cough*

Count me as one of those who thinks all numbers should be fair game.

It's just a number.

The Cowboys policy is they do not retire numbers.

Who was that?

Damone Clark. When they give out the legacy numbers, it's usually to a different position than the one that made it famous. the number is typically only sacred to the position like 88.

Let him earn a spot on the team first.

I have no problem with Duece wearing 22...or 2 since his name is Duece.

Who's Emmitt?

No retired numbers for Cowboys ever, and I love that about our team. I love the aura around 88, and I’d love to see more of that.

However, Deuce himself said he will not be seen in #22. He said that number won’t be on his back again, so we shall see what number he gets.
That's good to see. It would be fairly ballsy of Deuce to ask for 22, if I am honest.

A lot can happen between now and opening week of the regular season before they even have to consider #22.

If I'm reading this contract correctly, Lewis has a 6 million cap number with no guaranteed money. That's a fairly high cap # for your #4 CB, assuming Bland is entrenched as the #3 and primary slot CB. Will one of the younger/cheaper CBs lower on the depth chart show enough improvement to make Lewis expendable?

Apologies is this has already been a question.thread...

At KState Deuce wore #22. Obviously a sacred number in Dallas. Any thoughts on if a drafted player, 6th round no less, is worthy of the honor of 22 in Dallas?

Tough for me... he is, in some way, a family legacy Cowboy as his pops is AD College Scouting. That's a plus.
His name is Deuce, for goodness sake. That's a given.

Still I am torn! Ultimately I think he should wear the number 22... if Emmitt gives blessing maybe?

What say you Cowboy Fam?
I hope he gets to wear #22 and Emmitt signs off on it. The kid is an undersized underdog. Emmitt was no underdog, but considered at the time undersized in some ways.

Maybe the opportunity to wear #22 would be huge motivation for this kid to want to become a star.

22 belongs to one man, no one else…and it especially does not go to a 6th round pick.
