Bet guys don’t like going up against him. I’d bet he hits hard as hell and gets LOW.
Well, considering where his shoulder pads and helmet come up to on most players, I think they are going to have a funny feeling after he hits them.

If only we had a short yardage specialist that averaged one blade of grass per carry.

It’s gonna be fun watching this guy prove everyone wrong. I look forward to years of the juvenile short jokes. Less than a week into camp and they’re already stale!
I was being serious about his advantage in my post.

Things could go sour for Vaughn real quick if he misses some blocks. At his size blocking is going to be an issue.

At his size, Vaughn is going to get run over... that's just a fact.

He's gonna have to accept that and learn to be as much of a speed bump as possible. He may not spot of a lot of blitzers, but if he can slow them down and give Dak an extra second... it might be enough.

This topic reminds me when MJD (Maurice Jones-Drew)
lit up Shawn "Lights Out" Merriman in pass protection.

Now, I'm not comparing Vaughn to MJD. After all, Drew was roughly 2"
taller and 30lbs. heavier than Deuce. It was a great block though and
essentially ended Merriman. While still a good player until injury, Lights Out
was never mentioned with the same vigor again.

I'm guessing that whenever Deuce is in on offense, he's getting the ball.
At least in the beginning. Definitely rooting for the lil guy.

I don’t recall many highlights of Darren Sproles standing in there to pick up blitzing linebackers. There’s ways around putting Vaughn in that position. Just watch old Sproles film.

90% of what Sproles did was return kicks and punts.

Duece won't be put in that position. At least not this year. Sit him on the PS and see if he can develop into a return specialist. If so, we can THEN begin comparisons to Sproles.

We have our Sproles. His name is Turpin. He just happens to play WR and not RB. He seems to be on track to contribute on offense this year. Potentially the same number of touches Sproles averaged over his career. Which was around 6 per game.

I don't know why people think Sproles was some big offensive threat. He barely played any snaps as RB. He was a great return guy.

I never once, while he was playing the Cowboys, feared him on offense. Not that he ever played much there anyway.

So those that still think Duece will find his way to the 53, please tell me where? A question Ive asked multiple times.

They gonna keep him as the #2? No way

They gonna keep him as a #3 to just be a personal punt protector and maybe two or three gadget plays a game? Why? Any gadget plays should go to Turpin. And Turpin is a lock for the roster. Why waste a spot for Vaughn?

That #3 RB needs to contribute on special teams. Dowdle and Davis are good special teams guys. Davis may be looking at RB2. Dowdle is also a guy that can play RB2. Not just gadget stuff.

Hunter is the most intriguing as RB3 if they go four deep at TE.

And of course we still have RJ for RB2 which would push Davis to RB3. Depending of course on how RJ looks and how that suspension is dealt with by the team.

And there is always the option to cut RJ and replace him with someone else. Vets are out there. Vets will be cut. RBs that would be an upgrade available via trade, etc.

So please, explain where Duece fits on this team?

He’s small so he fits in lots of places. Like in a suitcase.

Ever seen a " mighty mouse " KO a blitzing LB ..? ;)

MJD was 5'7 but about 210lbs and had massively powerful legs

Aaron Jones is 5'9 ~210lbs. He has developed very well in pass protection/blitz pickup b/c he didn't do it much in college.

Vaughn can develop as well, but it's going to take a lot more work b/c of his size

You're questions will be answered by the time all preseason games are finished. Be patient. It's coming. Deuce will prove he's worth keeping on the 53 man roster.

Watching practice today, looks like Dowdle is getting a serious look. As well as Davis.

I think Jones may be toast.

My stance on Duece isnt changed. Theres not a spot for him. Hes not getting a lot of reps. Non factor as a returner. That could all change and he could light up PS, but to me he is headed to the practice squad.

Im far more interested in Luepke at the moment. Isnt working with the tight ends. They seem to be trying to find a spot for him as a receiving option. Maybe that third down empty backfield, H back guy. I did see him used as a FB. No true rb carries though. He may find himself on the PS as well.

Can't wait for an actual game!
